【词汇用法】
1. staff 集体名词,意为“管理人员;职工”,指整体时,看作单数;指成员时,看作复数。
We need more staff in the office .
The staff in the shop are very helpful .

2. pass by

【重点句型】
1. I wonder if…
wonder作及物动词,意为“想知道;对……感到怀疑”,常见的用法有:
(1)后接who, what,why,where 等引导的宾语从句。
I wonder who she is. 我想知道她是谁。
She wondered what the child was doing.
她感到疑惑,孩子究竟在干什么。
I wonder why Ann is late. 我想知道安为什么迟到了。
I wonder where they have gone. 我想知道他们去哪儿了。
(2)后接 that 引导的宾语从句,表示“对……感到惊讶”, that常可省去。
I wonder (that) she has won the race.
我对她赢了比赛感到惊讶。(3)后接 if 或 whether 引导的宾语从句,常用来表示一种委婉的请求或疑问。
She wondered whether you were free that morning.
她想知道你那天上午是否有空。
I wonder if he will succeed.
我不知道他会不会成功。
2.I was scared at first, but shouting did help. 起初我挺害怕,但是喊叫确实管用。
助动词did在句中起强调或加强语气的作用,常意为“的确,一定,务必”。did后接动
词原形。
He did need your help. 他的确需要你的帮助。
She does speak well. 她的确说得好。
注意:do随主语的人称、数和句子时态的变化而变化,有 does, do, did形式;句子时态
体现在do的变化上。
3.I suggest Water City Restaurant in Water World. 我提议水上世界的水城饭店。
suggest 及物动词 ,意为“建议;提议”,名词形式为suggestion ,意为“建议;提议”。其
用法为:
suggest sth 提议、建议某事
He suggested a walk
suggest doing sth 建议做某事
She suggested going there by bike.
suggest +that 引导的宾语从句,意为“建议……”,这时宾语从句要用虚拟语气,谓语动
词用“(should +)动词原形”

5. I promise it'll be exciting.
promise作动词,意为“许诺;承诺”。常用于以下结构:
⑴ promise (not) to do sth. “许诺(不)做某事”

His father promised to buy a new bike for him.
⑵ promise sb. sth. “许诺某人某物”
我的妈妈答应给我买一架钢琴。My mother promised me a piano
⑶ promise + that从句 “承诺……”
迈克承诺他能按时来这里。_Mike promises that he can come here on time.
promise作名词,意为“诺言;承诺”。常用结构:make a promise/ promises to sb. 对某人许
诺。keep a promise 遵守诺言 break a promise 违背诺言

6.I suggest Water City Restaurant in Water World.
(1)suggest作动词,意为 “建议;提议”。suggest sth(. to sb.)向(某人)建议某事;suggest
doing sth.建议做某事;suggest + that引导的宾语从句,意为“建议……”,这是宾语从句
要用虚拟语气,谓语动词用“should+动词原形”。
如:他昨天建议去野餐。He suggested a picnic yesterday.
他建议步行去那里。He suggested going there on foot.
他建议我们立刻做这件事。He suggests that we (should) do it at once.
(2)suggest的名词形式是suggestion,为可数名词,意为“建议;提议”。其同义词advice
为不可数名词。
如:我可以提个建议吗?May I make a suggestion?
这个建议受到了普遍欢迎。The suggestion was generally welcome.
6.Alice and He Wei walk up to a staff person at the door.
staff属集体名词。意为“管理人员;职工”,它既可看作单数,又可看作复数。当其强调整

Visiting the Louvre is a special experience, but you need to know where to start. The first
thing to know is that it's huge and you can't hope to see everything in a day. You get a map of
the museum with your entrance ticket.
You can't visit the Louvre and not see the Mona Lisa. My advice would be to see it first,
though you may have to run to avoid the crowds! When you've done that, use the map to look
for the galleries(展览馆) that sound most interesting to you, and spend the morning visiting
them, when you have plenty of energy. Then you can have some lunch at one of the cafés, and
spend the afternoon relaxing and finding surprises without looking at your map. The beauty of
any museum or gallery is personal discovery.
You can pay to borrow an audio guide, which is very useful and worth the money. You
have to leave a credit card or passport. There are several places offering audio guides. You
need to remember which one you got it from, because you must return it to the same one to get
your credit card or passport back. The Louvre is made up of many “wings” with names and the
audio guides are at the entrance to each wing.
Finally, the easiest way to enter the Louvre is from the underground entrance, rather than
from the street, as the lines are shorter.
