【重点句型】
1. That's how people in Japan are expected to greet each other.
这就是在日本人们应该互相问候的方式。
⑴greet v. 问候,打招呼;迎接(= welcome / say hello to)
常与with ... 或by doing ...搭配,表示“以…方式问候/打招呼”
It's a friendly way to greet each other. 这是一种互致友好问候的方式。
She rose to greet her guests. 她起身迎接客人。
⑵ expect sb. to do sth. 期望某人做某事
be expected to do sth. 被期望某事

⑴where+从句(……的地方)
where引导地点状语从句,说明主句行为发生的地点。

⑵be relaxed about ... 对……感到放松在这里relaxed是形容词, 意为“宽松的, 不加以约束的”, 后面常接介词about。be relaxed
about … 对……感到放松。relaxed还可以意为“放松的, 轻松自在的”。注意 relaxing
adj. 使人放松的,令人感到轻松的

value 动词,意为 “重视;珍视”。
value sth. 意为“认为某物有价值;珍惜/重视某物”。
value可作名词,意为 “价值”,be of great value to 意为“对……很有价值 ”。be of
little value“没什么价值”。
valuable 作形容词,意为“贵重的;宝贵的 ”。
好书对学生非常有用。Good books are of great value to students..
⑵in one's everyday life 在日常生活中

句中seeing……,属于现在分词短语作伴随状语。
伴随状语:指伴随着句子谓语动词的动作而发生或存在另一的动作或状态,即同一个主语
发出两个动作或处于两种状态。
The dog entered the room, following the boy. 这条狗跟着男孩进了屋。
(现在分词作伴随状语,表主动。)
The boy entered the room, followed by his dog. 男孩进了屋,后面跟着他的狗。
(过去分词作伴随状语,表被动。)

5.We often just drop by our friends’ homes if we have time.

drop by 意为 “顺便拜访;随便进入”。可以直接使用,也可以在by后面加表示地点的词
相当于 come over to 和drop in。drop in at sp.意为“顺便拜访某地”,drop in on sb.意为
“顺便拜访某人”。即drop by sb. = drop in on sb. 顺便走访某人
drop by one’s home = drop in (at) +地点 拜访…
他下班回来,顺便到朋友家坐了坐。
He dropped by his friend’s house when he came back from work.
不要忘了顺便去拜访一下你的老师。
Don’t forget to drop in on your teacher.
= Don’t forget to drop in at your teacher’s home.
6.If someone invites you to meet him or her at noon, then you’re even 15 minutes late, your
friend may get mad .

get mad (使)发怒,(使)生气。在这里,get是连系动词,接形容词,表示“变得”。如果要强
调状态,则用be mad ,表示动作用get mad。mad形容词,意为“很生气的;疯的”。常用搭
配:
①be mad at/with…意为“对……发怒”,相当于 be angry with。② be mad about 意为
“对……着迷”。drive sb. mad“使某人发狂”。
她因为她的丈夫忘了她的生日而生气。
She was mad at her husband for forgetting her birthday.
我对集邮非常着迷。

effort/'efə(r)t/ n.努力;尽力
make an effort为固定短语,其中effort作名词,意为“努力;尽力”。make an effort to do
sth.意为“努力做某事”。
effort的常用短语还有:
spare no effort to do sth.意为“不遗余力做某事”。
我们会尽力准时完成这个工作。
We’ll make an effort to finish the work on time.
今天早上为了按时到校,她努力跑去学校。
She made an effort to run to school this morning so as to be on time.
8.I always leave the house early to avoid heavy traffic because I think it’s impolite to keep
others waiting.avoid /ə'vɔɪd/ v. 避免;回避,后接名词,动名词作宾语。
e.g. Fortunately, he avoided an accident.幸运的是,他避开了一场事故。
巧记接动词 -ing 形式作宾语的动词及短语:
享受介意必完成 :(enjoy, mind, finish)
考虑建议盼望着: (consider, suggest/advise, look forward to)
避免错过继续练: (avoid, miss, keep/keep on, practise)
想要成功坚持忙: (feel like, succeed in, stick to, be busy)
习惯放弃有困难: (be used to, give up, have difficulty/ trouble in)
keep sb. doing sth. 使某人一直做某事
e.g. My parents keep me doing my homework all day.父母整天让我做作业。
They kept planting trees till 12 pm. 他们一直植树到中午十二点。

It is +adj.+(for sb.)+to do sth. 对某人来说干某事是.....的 (形容词修饰的是干某事)
类似形容词有 difficult,easy, hard,important,safe,dangerous...

It is +adj.+of sb.+to do sth. 某人做某事是.....的 (形容词描述的是人的性格、品质)

Japan
