4The Analysis of teaching object
The students are new in the middle school. The students only master some basic English words
and easy sentence of daily conversations. Mean-while, they maybe have no confidence to speak
English. So the teacher should encourage them to speak English as mush as possible in English
class. In this way, their oral English can be improved quickly.
5Teaching difficulties and key points
1.Important points
(1)Ask others English names and other personal information.
(2)Use easy sentences to make daily dialogues.
(3)The students can read and write the number from one to nine.
(4)Greet each other when people meet.
2.Difficult points
(1)Divide the male English names and the female English names.(2)The usage of the prossecive pronoun and personal pronoun.
(3)The culture of different countries has some difference.
(4)Make new friends in English.
6Teaching requirements
The students should preview the new words of this section before the class.

活动1【导入】Warm up and revision
1.Greet the whole students.
2.Play the song Teddy Bear and dance together to warm up.
3.Review the greeting sentence they learned in starter unit:
A : Hello ! / Hi !
B : Hello ! / Hi !
A : You are beautiful.
B: Thank you.
活动2【导入】Lead-in
Ask the students name and their English names. If they don't have English names,
they can pick one which they like in the followin-g activities.
Teacher : Do you have English name ?
Students :Yes. / No.活动3【讲授】Presentation
1.Ask students about their names and introduce themsevles.
(1)Teacher : Hello! My name is Phoebe. What’s your name?
Students: My name is ……. (lead the students to answer the question)
Teacher : It’s a good / nice name. / I like your name.
(2)Teacher : Hi! I’m Phoebe. / My name’s Phoebe.
Students : Hi! Phoebe. I’m…….(lead the students to answer the question)
Teacher : Nice to meet you!
Students : Nice to meet you!
(3)Practice the expressions on the blackboard. Tell the students to pay attention t
o these points:

2.Play a game. (show the students a bag with candies and two boxes full of Englis
h names)
Teacher : Look here. I have a lot of candies for you. Come here and touch.
Try to say them in English, I’ll give you the candy and let you choose an
English name first.
Student: Yeah./ OK.
Student1:(After geting his/her English name) My name’s…/ I’m…
Students: Nice to meet you! (the whole class say together)Student1: Nice to meet you!
3.Work on 1a
Teacher : Now look at the pictures on Page1. Listen and Read.
Try to say and write English words for the things in the picture
See how many words you know.
Teacher : Look here. What’s this? Who knows?
(Reward the student if she / he knows the word,write some new words on the bl
ackboard to teach the Ss, such as clock…)
4.Work on 1b
Teacher: Now let’s listen to the tape, find out the right conversation,and number
them 1-3.
(Point out the boxes where students will write a number for each conversation.
Play the recording for the first time, Ss only listen.
Then play a second time, Ss number the conversations.)
5.Work on 1c
(1)Ask the Ss to practice the conversations in 1b with a partner.Then use their ow
n names to practice instead of the names given.
(2)Encourage the Ss to leave their seats, move around andgreet other classmates.
(3)Get some pairs to come to the front of the class and act out the dialogue after t
hey have practiced several times.活动4【活动】Follow up
1.Take out some photos of famous persons, such as athletes, film stars, singers
and so on)
Teacher : Well, I’d like to show you some pictures you are interested in.
Can you tell me what her / his name is?
What’s his / her name?
Students : Her / His name is…
Teacher : Great. / Wonderful. / Good. / Well done.
(Write down their names on the blackboard to make the Ss read more easily and
remember more English names.)
2.Make ID card
Teacher: I’m sure you’ll be famous like them one day. So first you need to make
your ID card.
(Give each student an empty card for them to write their English names on one
side and Chinese names on the other side,then show their cards next class.)

1.Work on 2a
Teacher : Now, look at the pictures on P2, listen to the
four conversations. Just listen.
(Play the recording for the first time, students only listen.)
Then, listen to the recording again, and number the pictures . Check the answers.2.Work on 2b

ording. Students listen and circlethe names they hear. Then check the answers.
3.Work on 2c and 2d
Suppose you are new students in Lian He Middle School. You are from different co
untries. You meet for the first time. Make up a dial-ogue in pairs. You can refer
the sentences and information from 2d.
