教学目标
1.学生能够熟练用英语表达日期。
2.学生能够用英语表达自己的生日及询问他人的生日。
3.学生能够区分in和on的不同用法。
2学情分析
学生在小学已经学习过本课内容,但是对月份的表达不够熟练,序数词掌握得也不太好,因此
需要大量地操练。

日期的表达方式和序数词的形式及用法。

活动1【导入】Lead in
Encourage students to spell the word according to the phonetic symbol.
Ask students to read after the teacher. Then ask some students to read new
words individually.

活动2【讲授】Sing a song
Sing a songLet students listen to the teacher first. Then sing together. Ask students to stand
up and sing more loudly when it is their birthday month.

活动3【讲授】Ordinal numbersAsk students to look at the blackboard.
January is the first month of a year.

Introduce Cardinal numbers 1st-12th in this way.
Teach new words. Let students pay attention to fifth, eighth, ninth and twelfth.
Ask students guess how to say the next cardinal number.
13th, 14th ...
Show more cardinal numbers and discuss with group members to find out the
rules.
活动4【活动】Learn to say dates.
Show six dates on the screen. Teach students to read them.
Practice.
Ask students to work in pairs. One point at the date on the calendar, the other
read the dates.
Quick eyes. Flash some dates on the screen. Ask students to stand up quickly and
read it aloud if they can.(The last one is October first. T: October first is National
Day. It is our country’s birthday. My birthday is on December 25. When is your
birthday? Let students read the two sentences after the teacher. )

Ask students to look at the picture. What are they talking about? They are talking
about birthdays.)
1b Listen and number the conversations [1-3].Ask students to repeat after the record and imitate the pronunciation and
intonation.

Ask individual student:
When is your birthday?
My birthday is on...
Then let students work in pairs. Try to ask more students.
T: Ask your classmates' birthdays and write down the birthday person's name
near the date.
Ask students to ask and answer in pairs. Other students listen carefully and write
the birthday person’s name on the calendar.

Suppose the last student’s name is Lisa.
Ask students: When is Lisa’s birthday? Her birthday is...
A teacher is asking their students for their birthdays, too. When is Alice’s
birthday?... Let’s listen and match the dates and names.
Check answers in pairs.

How about you? Do you know all your classmates’ birthdays now?
Ask one student:When is Peter’s birthday?
If you don’t complete your class birthday calendar, ask your classmates for help.
When is Mary’s birthday?
...
Ask three pairs to present their conversations.
Then let all the students count the birthday persons they write down on the
calendar.
Prize: A big class birthday calendar.
Put the calendar on the wall. When it is someone’s birthday, say “ Happy
birthday !”to him/her.
