During the long-awaited vacation, my family and I decided to go on a camping trip. After careful
consideration, we chose a place near a beautiful lake. Just the thought of being surrounded by nature made us
excited.
When we finally arrived, we were greeted by a breathtaking view. The lake was like a huge mirror, reflecting
the clear blue sky and the trees on its banks. We quickly got to work setting up our camp. It was a team effort. My
parents were busy putting up the tent, while I was in charge of laying out the sleeping bags and something else
inside.
The sky was a clear blue, without a single cloud in sight. Standing on the soft grass, we looked towards the
lake, and heard the sound of the waves. It made all the stress from our daily lives fade away instantly.
During the day, fishing was one of our favorites. Every time a fish tugged (拉;拽) at the line, it brought a
burst of excitement. After fishing, we also took a walk around the lake. We explored the surrounding woods,
discovering small wildflowers and interesting rocks along the way.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky with warm hues (色彩) of orange and red, we gathered around the
campfire and chatted about everything from our daily lives to our dreams for the future. Laughter filled the air, and

Susan had long blonde hair and big blue eyes, just like most of her classmates. This made her unhappy about
her looks. “I look like everyone else! I’m not special!” she shouted to her mother.
To look different, she tried many things. She painted pink spots on her neck. When that didn’t work, she
stuck a long plastic nose on her real nose. Still, nobody noticed. By accident, she even poured ink all over her hair.
She wore clown clothes and stuck leaves in her ears. But no matter what she did, no one thought she was special.

hair or blue eyes, but no one has your smile, the twinkle in your eyes, or your personality. Now, get ready for
school.”

Some animals can easily find their way home after a long journey. ▲ Scientific research shows that they
are born with certain abilities for finding ways.
A certain kind of ant, for example, can count their steps to stop getting lost. They can go as far as 110 metres
and bring food home. These ants live in the open desert, so they have nothing to guide them along the way. It’s like
someone walking six kilometers through a dark forest.
Some fish have an unbelievable sense of smell. They can smell even a single drop of their home water in a
large sea area. Some sea birds are able to make a smell map of their flying area. A certain kind of fish can swim a
long way to a place and then back. How can this kind of fish do that while humans can’t? It is still a mystery.
Scientists have no good answers yet.
However, animals with such unusual abilities still have difficulty in finding their way because of human
activities. For example, many birds depend on stars for direction, but they get lost easily at night when city lights
are on all night. To solve this problem, we can simply turn off some lights at night. Clearly, one small act of
humans may mean a lot to animals.
1.Which of the following can be put in ▲ ?
A.What do they find? B.Where are they from?
C.How do they make it? D.Why do they do that?
2.How can a certain kind of ants find their way?

C.By bringing food together. D.By walking through a forest.
3.What does the underlined word “mystery” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Secret. B.Choice. C.Reason. D.Feeling.
4.What should people do according to the last paragraph?
A.Travel at night. B.Help animals.
C.Keep city lights on. D.Develop unusual abilities.
5.Which can be the best title for the passage?

The AI learns about your life. It sees what you eat and when you go to bed. It is like a friend who never
forgets. For example, if you often feel tired after school, it might say, “Try going to sleep one hour earlier.”
But is it safe to tell the app so much? The app companies say yes. They say keeping your information secret
