学情分析
Talking about different rules is the topic of this unit. School rules will be talked first. Students will
discuss what should do or not at school, family, library or other public places and learn to make
rules with Do… Don’t…have to…and so on. Teachers should help the students to know the
reasons why we must have rules and obey rules.In Unit4, Students have learnt how to express
the abilities by using modal word "can" “can't“” and "Can you/he...?" Therefore, the aim of
being able to use modal verb to is easy to complete. But the goal of using of the imperatives to
express permission is hard to reach.

活动1【导入】Step 1 Lead-in (导入新课)
Create a real situation. One student is eating a banana while she is in the
classroom.
T: Can we eat in class (Point at the sign “Don’t eat in class.”)?
Ss: No, we can’t. We can’t eat in class.
T: We can’t eat in class. So we can also say “Don’t eat in class.” Yes , don’t in class.
And this is the title of our new unit. From the topic, what are we going talk about,
can you guess?
S: Rules.T: So, don’t in the class, this is a rule. If you eat in class, we will say, you break the
rule, if you don’t eat in class, you follow the rules.
活动2【讲授】Step 2Presentation
Present the rules through pictures. Let students know about the school rules using
“Don’t…/can…/ cannot… ”
For example:
T: Look at the picture, what is the boy doing?
S: He is sleeping in class.
T: What rule does the boy break?
S:Don’t sleep in class.
T: You can also say , we can’t sleep in class.

Look at the pictures above and practice in pairs like this:
One says, “We can’t eat in class”, the other says, “Don’t eat in class.”

Let Ss memorize the pictures and speak out what rules they break after the
pictures disappeared.
活动5【活动】Step 5. Work on 1a.
1.In this procedure,students will learn to talk about different school rules.
2. Show the pictures and say:“What can you say to him?”3. Now please open your books at Page 19.Look at the words on the left.They are
words about school rules.Please read them.And we have 5 pictures. Try to match
the words with the pictures.
Encourage the students to say something about the pictures and do the match
work.Tell Ss we should obey the rules, don’t break the school rules. We should
have good habits.
活动6【活动】Step 6 Listening (work on 1b)
T: If you want to be good students, don’t break the school rules. The rules are goo
d for your study. But now here are some bad students. Look! Each of these studen
ts is breaking one of these rules. Now there are three students Peter, Amy and Mi
ke. What rules are these students breaking? Please listen to the tape and write th
e numbers after the names.
First, ask students to catch 1b’s the meanings & look at the pictures in 1a.
Next, we’ll listen to a conversation.In the conversation,people are talking about sc
hool rules. Let’s listen and number the 3 names.Let’s see which rule each of the 3
students is breaking.
Play the recorder.Then check the answers.
After this,ask students to repeat.

Student A is a new student. Student B is telling student A about the school rules
above:
eg: A: Don’t run in the hallways. B: Sorry, I won’t.
A: what are the rules?
B: well, we can’t arrive late for class. We must be on time.
Ask students to practice the conversation and make their own conversations.Ss work in pairs and practice saying the school rules.

Let Ss speak out the rules they know, then the teacher draws a conclusion.

Watch a video and find out what rules the students break.
活动10【活动】Step 10 Listening (work on 2a and 2b)
Now we will listen to a conversation between Alan and Cindy. Before listening, ple
ase look at the table in 2a on page 20. There are 8 activities. Ss can do some of the
m, and some they can’t do, can you guess what they can do and what they can’t d
o. Let’s listen to the conversation and check the activities.
Listen again. Can Alan and Cindy do these activities? Circle “can” or “can’t” above.

活动11【活动】Step 11 Ask and answer (work on 2c)
Model: Can we listen to music, Cindy?
We can’t listen to music in the hallways, but we can listen to it outside.
Ss work in groups, practice making conversations. Each group reports to the
class.
活动12【活动】Step 12 Report1、Form a group of four. Talk about your school rules and make records on a piece
of paper.

We have so many rules. Why do we have so many rules? Because the rules can
help us to form good habits and help us to live better and study better. It is
necessary for the students to follow the rules. So there is a famous saying, “No
rules, no standards.”

1. Copy the new words and phrases in Section A.
2. Make up a new conversation about your school rules.
