教学目标
1. Learn to describe the animals from different aspects.
2. Talk about the reasons why they’re in great danger.
3. Learn to protect the animals and love the nature.
2学情分析
本班学生已初步掌握谈论喜欢和不喜欢的动物,以及喜欢的原因,因此从谈论喜欢的动物入手
来复习描述动物,从动物的可爱再谈到动物们需要帮助,比较能让学生们产生共鸣。除了文章
中所谈论的大象以外,孩子们或许会想了解更多动物的习性,来自哪个国家以及他们的特点,
但是对于其他动物的能力和被猎杀的原因,学会们用英语表达会比较困难,因此在小组活动当
中给出一些所需单词和提示是非常有必要的。另外,在整个表达过程中,对原文的整体理解思
维导图起到了很好的作用,也能让学生更清楚这篇文章的结构和发展,在最后我认为学生们还
需要一个范例的指导,通过对范例的结构再次认识,学生们更能上手和上口。最后,通过对不同
动物的帮助,让学生认识到保护动物和大自然的重要性,从而把此课的情感教育得以升华。
3重点难点
1. Get to know the animals from different kinds of aspects, including the importance, some facts
and figures and abilities.
2. Except the elephants, how to protect the other animals will be difficult for the students.

活动1【导入】Revision
What animals do you like? Why? Ask the students to talk about their favorite
animals, and then play the sound of the animal to let them guess what my
favorite animal is.
活动2【导入】Enjoy a video
Enjoy a video to let the students know how lovely the animals are.
(Look at the animals on TV. The tigers, elephants, pandas are all in great danger.
They need our help. Let’s join the World Animal Protection. They need some
volunteers(志愿者) to help write articles(文章)about animals on their website tolet more people know about the animals in great danger and take actions(采取行
动 ) to protect(保护) them.)
活动3【讲授】Part I Pre-Reading
1. Look at the picture in the website article! What animal is it about?
2. What do you know about elephants? Where are they from? What can they
do? What do people kill them for?
活动4【讲授】Part II. While-Reading
1. Skimming: Read this website article and check the best title for it.
2. Scanning: Read the article again then answer the questions below.
Questions: Where are the students from?
Are elephants smart animals?
Why are elephants in great danger?
When is Thai Elephant Day?
3. Careful Reading: 2C ---- Mind map
Importance in Thailand: first flag had a white elephant on it
Symbol of good luck
Abilities: can play soccer or music, can also draw well,
can remember places with food and water
Facts and figures: people cut down many trees, people kill them for ivoryToday there are about 3,000 elephants(over 100,000 before)
How to save them: don’t cut down too many trees
don’t buy things made of ivory
March 13th is Thai Elephant Day
(Ask the students to complete the mind map first, and then try to retell the
passage with the help of it)
活动5【讲授】Part III. Post-Reading
1. Ask someone to try retelling the whole article with the help of the mind map.
2. Fill in the blanks with the help of the mind map to check if the students have a
good understanding of the article and try to
consolidate what we learned in the lesson.
活动6【活动】Group Work
1. Look at the pictures, the animals are beautiful and lovely. But nowadays peopl
e kill the for different kinds of reasons. They kill
sharks for their shark fins, kill elephants for their ivory, kill bears for their bear
gall, and kill tigers for their fur and bones. The
animals need our help.
2. It’s not an easy thing to stop the killing, but we’re not alone. Let’s listen to wh
at the famous people say. (Play a video)
3. Group work: Now you are in WAP. Please write a short passage about a kind o
f animal and try to think of some ways to save theanimals. Six students in a group, and each group will get a task. Please discussion
with your group members and
the group leader needs to write down the words. If you try, I’ll give you a surprise.
(Show the students an example, and try to make the structure clear to the student
s)
Here’s an example!
Beginning: We’re students from group 1 and we want to save the elephants.
Symbol : The elephant is one of Thailand’s symbols. And the white elephant is a s
ymbol of good luck.
Abilities: Elephants are smart animals. They can play soccer or music and can als
o draw very well.
Facts: But now elephants are in great danger. People cut down trees and kill the
m for ivory.
Today there are only a small number of (少量的)elephants.
Ways to help: We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory. Remem
ber animals are our friends.
4. Ask several groups to try. (Give them a photo of the animal as a present)
