1.熟练掌握whether/if 引导的宾语从句
whether/if 及疑问词引导的宾语从句
1. whether/if 引导的宾语从句
He asked if [whether] we wanted a drink.
He didn’t tell me if [whether] he would come.
It depends on whether the letter arrives in time.
I didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry.
I will write to you whether or not I can come.
I don’t know whether [if] he will win or not.
I don’t care if it doesn’t rain.
I wonder if [whether] he isn’t mistaken.
宾语从句还可以由疑问词what,which,who,where,when,how,why 等引导。
2
I don't know what we should do.
Do you know which film they are talking about?

Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to 3

First, you should choose a friend. 4

Dear American Girl,
My birthday party guest list has a lot of people on it, but I can only invite
five to my birthday party.
They're all my good friends. How can I choose?
Jessica
Dear Jessica,
You can talk to your parents about your birthday party. Explain that
picking only five friends might cause friendship problems for you, and ask if
there's a way to deal with it. Could you have a simpler party with more people?
You can change your party plan to include more friends. This could avoid
6
hurting people's feelings.
American Girl
Dear American Girl,
There's a girl in our grade who always follows us around. We don't like her
because she's annoying and always getting in our business
How can we get her to play with someone else without hurting her feelings?
Four friends
Dear Four friends,
You four need to be careful because this is how many bullying(欺负)
situations get started. This girl is just trying to find a place to fit in. Maybe it's
with your group, and maybe not. Either way, try not to be mad at her for
"annoying you", and really give her a chance. Be kind. Say hi. And accept the
fact that she's not perfect—who is perfect, after all? If she asks you questions
you don't want to answer, just ask her a question about herself to change the
topic. Telling this girl to play with someone else can turn quickly into bullying.
That will hurt her feelings and might put you four in trouble. So just share your
friendship.

Feeling Left Out?
A reader wrote in to say that she was feeling lonely at break because her best friend wasn't around.
Here's our advice to her—and to all kids who feel lonely sometimes.
It's hard when a best friend isn't around—maybe because she moved to a different school or a different
class. You may feel lonely at break or lunchtime. You want to have new friends, but how do you make
them? Maybe it seems like everybody else already has their friends. But remember, there's always room for
more friends.
Start by looking around your classroom—think about which kids you'd like to play with at break.
Look for chances to say hi to them, smile, and be friendly. Offer to share something or express your
appreciation(欣赏) to them. Invite someone to play with you or say "Do you want to sit here?" in the
lunchroom. When you're at break, walk over to the kids you want to play with, act friendly, and say "Hi,
can I play, too?" or just join in.
If you have trouble doing this or if you're feeling shy, ask your teacher to help you make new friends.
Teachers are usually pretty good at matching up friends. The best way to make friends is to be a friend. Be
7
kind, be friendly, share, say nice things, offer to help—and pretty soon, you'll have one, or two, or even
more new friends.
You might still miss that special best friend. But when you see each other, you can share something
you didn't have before she left. You can introduce her to your new friends!

Friends are important to the children. Research shows that children who have no friends can suffer
from difficulties later in life. Friendship provides children with more than just fun. In making friends,
children learn how to get in touch with the others and solve problems. Having friends even does good to
children's study for they can help each other during the class.
If the parents care about their children whether they made many friends, what matters is that the child
is comfortable and happy with his friends. Parents need to understand the steps children take in building
friendships. First of all, be a friend to your child. Good friendships start at home. Children begin to develop
the necessary ability to go out and meet others through getting with their parents. Greet the child warmly
and let him know you are glad to see him. Children learn a lot from how their parents stay with them and
other people.
Teach children how to solve conflicts(争端). Being able to work out conflicts is an important skill in
getting along with others. If parents know the children have a conflict, let them work it out on their own.
Only step in if it is really necessary, for example, an argument is getting physical.
Give children chances to practice staying together. Have children play games that require team work
and group problem solving skills. For example, races are fun and provide plenty of practice in teamwork.
"In what ways didn't you work well together? What might you do differently next time?" For these ideas,
see books such as Games Book by Terry Orlick, Energizers by Carol Apacki, and Team-Building Activities
for Every Group by Alanna Jones.
Encourage children to show thanks to the others. The parents can encourage children to do this by
setting the example for them.

D(湖北孝感市孝南区2015 年5 月联考)
"How are you?" is a nice question. It's a friendly way that people in the USA greet each other. But
"How are you?" is also a very unusual question. It's a question that often doesn't need an answer. The
person who asks "How are you?" hopes to hear the answer "Fine", even if the person's friend isn't fine. The
reason is that "How are you?" isn't really a question and "Fine" isn't really an answer. They are simply other
ways of saying "Hello" or "Hi".
Sometimes, people don't say exactly what they mean. For example, when someone asks "Do you
agree?", the other person might think, "No, I disagree. I think you're wrong..."But it isn't very polite to
disagree so strongly, so the other person might say "I'm not sure." It's a nicer way to say that you
don't agree with someone.
People don't say exactly what they are thinking when they want to finish talking with other people. For
example, many talks over the phone finish when one person says "I've to go now."Often, the person who
wants to hang up gives an excuse:"Someone's at the door.""Something is burning on the stove."The excuses
might be real, or not. Perhaps the person who wants to hang up simply doesn't want to talk any more, but it
isn't polite to say that. The excuse is more polite, and it doesn't hurt the other person.
Whether they are greeting each other, talking about an idea, or finishing a talk, people don't say
exactly what they are thinking. It's an important way that people try to be nice to each other, and it's part of
the game of language.
13. When a person in America asks "How are you?", he or she wants to hear" ____ "
   A.How are you?
B.Hello.
C.I don't know.
D.Fine.
14. When a person disagrees with someone, it is polite to say"_________ "
   A.You are wrong. I disagree.
B.I'm not sure.
   C.I'm sure I disagree.
D.I don’t agree with you.
15. A polite way to finish a talk is to say"__________"
   A.You have to go now.
B.I want to hang up.
   C.I have to go now.
D.I don't want to talk any more.
16. When a person says "I've got to go now. Someone's at the door.", the
person may be_______.
   A.giving an excuse
B.hurting someone's feelings
C.talking to a person at the door
D.going to another place
17. The rule of the game of language is probably____________ .
   A."Always say what you mean"
B."Don't disagree with people."
C."Never say exactly what you're thinking."
D."Be polite."
