【真题再现】
【2026 年普通高等学校招生全国统一考试(全国Ⅰ卷),阅读理解C 篇】In line with longstanding
initiatives to expand its green spaces, New York City is planting tens of thousands of trees each year. They provide
shade, lower surface temperatures, absorb a surprising amount of airborne carbon, remove tiny pollutants, and
provide wildlife habitat along with just plain beauty.
Something could go wrong, though, according to a new study. Oaks and sweetgums, which currently account
for a majority of the city’s trees, produce huge amounts of a chemical substance called isoprene. Harmless by itself,
isoprene interacts rapidly with polluting nitrogen oxides released by vehicles, buildings and industry to form
ground-level ozone (臭氧) — a major factor in many breathing problems.
The research, carried out by scientists at the Columbia Climate School and other institutions, found that if the
city maintains past species patterns in new plantings, isoprene production in Manhattan in coming decades will go
up by about 140%, and resulting summer ozone levels as much as 30%.
“We’re all for planting more trees. They bring so many good things,” said study coauthor Róisín Commane.
“But if we’re not careful, we could make air quality worse.”
The Parks Department is not oblivious to the issue. A study carried out by some of its researchers several
years ago concluded that city trees did release isoprene. “We didn’t make a big deal of that,” said Novem Auyeung,
a Parks Department senior scientist. She said trees should not be viewed as the enemy. “We could plant any trees
we want to, if we just rethink our car-centric lifestyle,” she said.
“We’re not going to go cutting down any big old oaks,” and neither will the department completely stop
planting new ones, said Auyeung. “You have to think about what you would lose if you do that.” Oaks are keystone
species, she pointed out, providing food and habitat for native insects, birds and other animals.
28. What does the new study imply regarding oaks and sweetgums?
A. They affect the growth of other trees.
B. They absorb less carbon than expected.
C. They harm people’s health indirectly.
D. They raise the local temperature slowly.
29. Which of the following may Commane suggest based on their study?
A. Cutting down the isoprene-producing trees.
B. Suspending tree-planting for a few decades.
C. Changing the species of trees in new plantings.
D. Removing isoprene released by existing trees.
30. What does the underlined phrase “oblivious to” in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Honest about.
B. Unaware of.
C. Related to.
D. Optimistic about.
31. What would Auyeung probably advocate?
A. Reducing car use in daily life.
B. Providing animals with new habitats.
C. Controlling population growth.
D. Doing more research on the problem.
(答案:28. C 29. C 30. B 31. A)

Human children and adults often follow trends, but this imitation isn’t unique to our species. A new study
suggests wild parrots (鹦鹉) learn to try new foods by copying peers.
Animals living in urban environments can meet unusual resources, and expanding their diet is crucial in
ever-changing cities. However, they are often cautious about unfamiliar, potentially poisonous food. To judge the
risks, some animals use social learning by observing others — a strategy rarely studied in the wild.
To check if wild parrots use this way, scientists studied over 700 wild cockatoos in five Sydney areas. Two
parrots from different places learned to eat blue or red colored nuts. Then a food box with these nuts was put there.
After watching the trained parrots eat, other parrots in Balmoral Beach ate the colored nuts within seven minutes.
In a third community, where there were no trained cockatoos, it took four days for the parrots to try the novel
food items. But after one parrot — who had moved from the Balmoral Beach community — took the risk, 15 other
parrots also ate the nuts within 10 minutes. By the end of the experiment, 349 individuals across five areas were
eating colored nuts.
The researchers also found males were more likely to influence the behavior of other males. Female parrots
were more likely to change their behavior based on social information, regardless of the age or sex of the
individuals they observed. What’s more interesting is that young parrots always follow others and copy most
parrots’ choices. Yet adult ones care more about their social partners’ actions.
4.What does the underlined word “imitation” in the first paragraph mean?
A.Seeking social acceptance.
B.Protecting their unique identity.
C.Adopting habits from parents.
D.Learning through observation.
5.How did parrots react after seeing trained ones eat colored nuts?
A.They waited for four days.
B.They tried them soon.
C.They refused the new food.
D.They changed their habits.
6.What did the study find about young parrots?
A.They learned faster than adults.
B.They were braver than adults.
C.They followed most other parrots.
D.They preferred social partners.
7.What can be inferred about social learning according to the text?
A.It helps animals adapt to new environments.
B.It belongs to human nature.
C.It prevents animals from trying new foods.
D.It works equally for male and female birds.

Three beams (木梁) span the ceiling of my living room. Wide, weathered, and dark with age, they bear the
marks of earlier use — holes where the Douglas fir (花旗松) reveals a past life. I like how they look and how it
feels to live under old growth. But mainly I like knowing that the wood, which came from an abandoned factory,
spared trees from harvest and kept useful material from being buried as waste.
Around the world, more governments and companies are encouraging the idea of wood reuse. Yet turning
recovered wood into a climate solution extensively isn’t simple.
Among the pioneers of reclaimed materials is Dave Bennink, a deconstruction expert whose teams at Re-Use
Consulting have helped relocate or partially deconstruct thousands of structures and trained hundreds of contractors
and reclamation teams. Bennink’s work has been involved in many local initiatives — including in Portland, the
first U.S. city to require old residential homes to be deconstructed rather than torn down. When the city passed its
rule in 2016, he helped train contractors on how to deconstruct buildings piece by piece.
Not every effort has succeeded, though — Milwaukee’s short-lived deconstruction rule that was adopted in
2018 has since been suspended, in part because the local market for reclaimed materials is not established enough
to support it. In Denver, voters approved the “Waste No More” initiative in 2022, but the rule has yet to be fully
carried out. One major concern: whether enough companies exist to handle the work. The city needs a sufficient
network of companies that can reclaim and deconstruct, as well as a strong market for reclaimed wood and other
materials.
Barbara Buser, an architect in Switzerland, argues that the problem lies in the past century of unsustainable
building practices — cheap, fast construction with new materials that ignore long-term environmental costs. The
real challenge, she says, is changing the way people think about buildings — not to be torn down, but as sources of
material. “We could systematically inspect all the structures likely to be taken down and record their parts. That
won’t help without more people wanting to reuse the materials.”
8.Why does the author mention the three beams?
A.To show the value of old wood.
B.To introduce the history of his house.
C.To highlight the quality of the Douglas fir.
D.To complain about the waste in construction.
9.What prevents reclaimed wood being used extensively?
A.A shortage of suitable sites for wood recovery.
B.Limited interest from architects and engineers.
C.Voters’ strong resistance to taking down old buildings.
D.A lack of deconstruction companies and well-developed markets.
10.What is Barbara Buser’s attitude towards the future of wood reuse?
A.Conditionally optimistic.
B.Considerably doubtful.
C.Regretfully pessimistic.
D.Entirely unclear.
11.Which best shows the structure of the text?
A.Cause → Effect → Solution → Evaluation.
B.Situation → Topic → Problem → Reflection.
C.Observation → Action → Result → Conclusion.
D.Description → Suggestion → Example → Argument.
