AI is getting better and better at creating illustrations, musics, movies, stories and more. Tools that have risen
sharply in popularity since late 2022 are changing the way people create content. AI can help jumpstart a person’s
creativity by offering countless ideas, almost instantly.
Kevin Baragona is the founder of Deep AI in San Francisco, California. It’s one of several AI tools people
can use to generate artworks or writing in many different styles. “We’re pretty popular among the artistic
community where people use us to inspire their own art,” he says.
Deep AI also makes possible entirely new types of content. Baragona says you'll soon be able to generate
Hollywood-quality movies to fit your tastes. “And the same thing with audio (音频),”he adds. “We’ll generatemusic just for you. It’s going to be pretty cool.”
Not everyone is happy about AI's introduction into artistic fields, though. Some artists and writers object to
their work being used to train AI models without their permission. And in 2023, Hollywood screenwriters and
actors went on strike(罢工), partially because of concerns about how AI-generated writing and acting could change
the movie business. These walkouts ended up getting some limits about how AI can be used to write scripts(剧本)
and describe actors and characters.
As people get used to AI and society establishes guidelines for its use, we might become more welcoming
about its place in art. For example, consider the game of chess. AI can defeat the strongest human grandmasters at
the game, yet people still play and compete. They now use AI to train and to develop new strategies. Chess is more
popular than ever, and AI may be part of the reason. Visual artist Matt Saunders told the Harvard Gazette
newspaper, “We should be thankful to be challenged and knocked out of our habits!”
42.What does the underlined word “jumpstart” mean in paragraph 1?
A.Promote. B.Kill. C.Lower. D.Imitate.
43.What do we know about Deep AI according to Kevin Baragona?
A.Many artists may find it helpful.
B.Many artists feel challenged by it.
C.It is famous for Hollywood movies.
D.It is owned by an artistic community.
44.What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.Limits on using AI. B.Reasons for a strike.
C.Negative attitudes to AI. D.Worries about losing jobs.
45.What might be the author's attitude toward using AI?
A.Unclear. B.Doubtful. C.Approving. D.Objective.
七选五
Does your teenager seem addicted to the Internet? Probably yes. 46 At first, parents welcome the
Internet into their homes, believing they are opening up an exciting new world of educational chances for their
children. 47 Instead of using the Internet for homework or research, they are spending hours messaging
with friends, playing online games or talking to strangers in chat rooms.
Keeping a healthy balance between entertainment media and other activities in their children’s lives has
always been a challenge for parents. The Internet has made this challenge even more difficult. 48
However, parents are usually not aware that there is a problem until it becomes serious. This is because it iseasy to hide what you are doing online and Internet addiction is not widely recognized by the medical community.
Children and young people can easily become hooked on online activities such as multi-player games,
instant messaging and chat rooms. The most vulnerable children are those who are unpopular or shy with peers.
49 Boys, in particular, are frequent users of online role-playing games, where they assume new identities and
interact with other players. For the children who are not so outgoing, playing these games with thousands of other
users may apparently be a social activity. 50 . So parents need to help children limit the online time to an
appropriate amount.
A.That is especially obvious when it comes to online social games.
B.In fact, playing too much can further keep them away from friends and peers.
C.The amount of time teenagers spend online is a source of concern for many parents.
D.But numerous parents don’t discover this worrying situation and ignore it naturally.
E.However, many parents soon realize that their kids were gradually becoming Internet addicts.
F.The engaging nature of the Internet makes many children lose track of time when they’re online.
G.They can be easily attracted to the opportunities for creating new identities in online communities.

In one of my classes today we discussed the question of how our lives would be without a mobile phone. I
actually felt quite sad to hear how some kids cannot 51 without their phones these days. 52 , I think
nowadays we are 53 by our technology to keep up. So let’s see some of the points that 54 in the
discussion and see if our generation really is addicted to electronic connections rather than true communication.
It is true that everything works at a fast pace these days. For example, you can contact someone who lives on
the other side of the world within 55 . This is great if you think about how connected we can stay to the
56 who are far away from us. However, on the contrary, can we be too connected to the people who are 57
to us? An argument arose about the 58 that it is easier to message someone from your sofa than to meet
them 59 and talk. Social skills are important to have and if you are not going to put effort into real-life
60 , then you are not going to progress in this ability.
Another point was that phones are very handy for 61 something that you are wondering about.
For example, if you don’t know a word in another language, you can quickly and simply use an on-line translator to
help you out. This can be very 62 in many situations, but it can also make a person dependent on the
63 to help with anything.
All in all, this question is very interesting to 64 for oneself as we become day by day more
dependent on technology. We should realize how much we really need to be connected by our phones whileconsidering the 65 and damages it can cause us.

语篇填空
How did BYD build its dreams? BYD had an advantage from the start: unlike car makers that expanded to
build electric models, it was 81 (original) a battery company that later started making cars.
Its chief executive Wang Chuanfu was born into a family of farmers. After earning degrees in college, he co-
founded BYD along with his cousin in 1995. The two made a name for 82 (they) as manufacturers of
rechargeable batteries 83 (use) in smartphones, laptops and other electronics-that competed with pricier
Japanese imports. It became a publicly traded company in 2002. Electric Vehicles (EVs) were still in their early
stages then, but 84 (official) were looking for a gap in the market that China could fill. For BYD, the
batteries it had been making 85 (be) effectively the engines that would power EVs.
In 2008, US billionaire Warren Buffett bought a 10% stake (股份) in BYD Auto, 86 (say) that it
would one day become “the largest player in a global automobile market that was bound to go electric”. Analysts
say BYD owes its growth 87 its original business-batteries. They are among the 88 (expensive)
parts of an EV and making them in-house saves BYD a lot of money.
“ 89 is demand everywhere in the world for affordability,” says Mr Bill Russo, the Founder and CEO
of Automobility. And the place 90 can offer that to the world right now, he adds, is China.
