quality child care in a loving and educational environment for children 6 weeks to 6 years of age. Our funds mainly
come from public donations.
A healthy curiosity for learning is the most important quality for early childhood development. We aim at
offering high quality developmentally age-appropriate activities for early childhood, the most critical time of child
development, so that they can do better after they start formal schooling.
Hours of Operation

may affect continued services with the center.
Parking
Dropping off and picking up your child can be made from the two main areas, Spring Street and Seventh
Street. Parking is free for parents coming to visit their children in our center. Please do not leave your purse or
valuables in your car and be sure to lock your vehicle.
Tuition (学费)

Elizabeth Keyton, originally from Georgia, the USA, married Arjun, a Malayali. She wanted to learn his
mother tongue to strengthen their family bond. In the process, she created an Instagram page called “Elikutty”
through which she now teaches Malayalam to thousands of people.
“I always loved hearing people speak different languages, but when my mother from Serbia spoke Serbian at
home, my father showed no interest in learning it, leaving frequent misunderstanding and communicating
problems. That’s when I decided that if I met someone from a different culture, I would try to learn his language,
which would be good for us and our family,” says Elizabeth to The Better India.
“So when my relationship with Arjun started looking serious because of difficulties in communicating, I
decided to learn Malayalam. However, I found that there weren’t enough resources to learn the language. Most
books available were outdated or made for children. A small amount of material was often too difficult for casual
(非正式的) language learners like me,” says the 35-year-old. “Later, I struggled to find a teacher suited to my
needs and some grammar resources online.”
As an English teacher, Elizabeth used her teaching skills to learn Malayalam. She wrote notes and made
doodles (涂鸦) to learn the letters. “For me, the best way to learn is by explaining it to someone else, so I made an
Instagram page in 2018 to share my notes and small drawings,” she says. Starting out with 1,000 followers in 2018,
her Instagram page has over 70,000 followers today. She is pleased to make learning Malayalam fun and easy.
“I have seen what happens when languages are ignored in my own house. My brother doesn’t know Serbian,
which means his family won’t. It’s important to know English as it is a global language and helps when you go
abroad, but the same respect should be given to native languages. They are the true way to a person’s heart.” says

For lots of kids, toddlerhood (幼儿期) is an important time for friendship. Studies show that the earlier kids
learn to form positive relationships, the better they are at relating to others as teenagers and adults. Playing together
also helps these kids practice social behaviors, such as kindness, sharing, and cooperation.
Even so, how quickly your child develops into a social creature may also depend on his temperament. Some
toddlers are very social, but others are shy. In addition, the way that toddlers demonstrate that they like other
children is markedly different from what adults think of as expressions of friendship. Research at Ohio State
University in Columbus found that a toddler’s way of saying “I like you” during play is likely to come in the form
of copying a friend’s behavior.
This seemingly unusual way of demonstrating fondness can result in unpleasant behavior. Regardless of how
much they like a playmate, they may still grab his toys, refuse to share, and get bossy. But experts say that this is a
normal and necessary part of friendship for kids this age. Through play experiences, toddlers learn social rules.
That’s why it’s so important to take an active role in your toddler’s social encounters by setting limits and offering
frequent reminders of what they are. When you establish these guidelines, explain the reasons behind them.
Begin by helping your child learn sympathy (“Ben is crying. What’s making him so sad?”), then suggest how
he could resolve the problem (“Maybe he would feel better if you let him play the ball.”). When your child shares
or shows empathy (同理心) toward a friend, praise him (“Ben stopped crying You made him feel better.”).
Another way to encourage healthy social interaction is by encouraging kids to use words — not fists — to
express how they feel. It’s also important to be mindful of how your child’s personality affects playtime. Kids are
easy to get angry when they’ re sleepy or hungry, so schedule playtime when they’ re refreshed.
46.What does it indicate when toddlers copy their playmates’ behavior?
A.They are interested in acting.
B.They are shy with the strangers.
C.They are fond of their playmates.
D.They are tired of playing games.
47.What is the meaning of the underlined word in paragraph 2?
A.Behavior.
B.Talent.
C.Enthusiastic.
D.Character.
48.What does the author suggest parents do for their kids?
A.Design games for them.
B.Find them suitable playmates.
C.Play together with them.
D.Help them understand social rules.
49.What is the function of the quoted statements in paragraph 4?
A.Giving examples.
B.Explaining concepts. C.Providing evidence. D.Making
comparisons.
50.Which of the following is the best title for the text?
A.How Children Adapt to Changes
B.How to Be Role Model for Children
C.How Your Baby Learns to Love
D.How to communicate with Your Kid
【答案】46.C 47.D 48.D 49.A 50.C

Research at Ohio State University in Columbus found that a toddler’s way of
saying “I like you” during play is likely to come in the form of copying a friend’s behavior.(俄亥俄州立大学哥伦
Even so, how quickly your child develops into a social creature may also
depend on his temperament. Some toddlers are very social, but others are shy.(即便如此,孩子成长为社交达人
A. Behavior 行为;B. Talent 天赋;C. Enthusiastic 热情的;D. Character 性格。故选D。
Through play experiences, toddlers learn social rules. That’s why it’s so
important to take an active role in your toddler’s social encounters by setting limits and offering frequent reminders
of what they are. When you establish these guidelines, explain the reasons behind them.(通过游戏体验,幼儿学
Begin by helping your child learn sympathy (“Ben is crying. What’s making him
so sad?”), then suggest how he could resolve the problem (“Maybe he would feel better if you let him play the
ball.”). When your child shares or shows empathy (同理心) toward a friend, praise him (“Ben stopped crying You
made him feel better.”).(首先帮助你的孩子学会同情(“本在哭。
故选A。
通读全文,尤其是根据第一段“For lots of kids, toddlerhood (幼儿期) is an important time
for friendship. Studies show that the earlier kids learn to form positive relationships, the better they are at relating
to others as teenagers and adults. Playing together also helps these kids practice social behaviors, such as kindness,
因此,C 选项“How Your Baby Learns to Love(你的孩子如何学会爱)”最符合文章主旨。故选C。

Many people believe that multitasking is an efficient way to get more done in less time, assuming it boosts
productivity in both personal and professional lives. This common perception suggests that handling multiple tasks
at once allows individuals to maximize their time. However, research and real-world examples suggest that this
belief might be misguided.
Supporters of multitasking claim that it allows people to combine various activities into a smooth workflow,
potentially resulting in improved time management. For example, a student might prepare for an exam while
listening to music, thinking it helps them stay focused, or a professional might answer emails during a conference
call, believing it makes their workday more efficient. The concept is that by handling multiple tasks at once, one
can achieve more within the same time frame.
However, numerous studies have shown that multitasking often has the opposite effect. Research conducted
by Stanford University found that people who frequently multitask are actually less efficient at handling multiple
tasks than those who focus on one task at a time. These multitaskers struggle to organize thoughts and ignore
unnecessary information, leading to decreased productivity. The American Psychological Association also notes
that the cognitive cost of switching tasks can consume up to 40% of productive time, which significantly
undermines efficiency.
Real-world examples show the negative aspects of multitasking. A driver texting while navigating traffic is
more likely to have an accident due to divided attention. Similarly, an employee constantly switching between tasks
may produce lower quality work and take longer to complete projects. In contrast, companies that encourage
focused work periods, such as using the Pomodoro Technique, report improved productivity and job satisfaction
among employees.
To truly embrace single-tasking, several strategies can be applied. Prioritizing tasks by urgency and
importance is key, using tools like Trello or Asana to track progress. Techniques such as the Pomodoro Technique,
which involves working on a single task for 25 minutes followed by a short break, help maintain focus and prevent
burnout.
Minimizing distractions is also crucial. Establishing “quiet hours” for focused work without interruptions,
and setting specific times for checking emails, can help maintain concentration. Additionally, building a workplace
culture that values quality over quantity encourages thorough task completion.
Reevaluating our approach to productivity is essential. As more people recognize the benefits of focused
work, a shift towards more effective task management may occur, leading to better outcomes for individuals and
organizations alike. By putting these strategies into action, we can build a work environment that is more
productive and rewarding.

I was on a motorcycle trip in Spain. The temperatures were above 40 degrees every day, and I would finish
each day completely wet in sweat.
One day, as I rode along a hilly road I spotted a cafe shaded by trees. I pulled in and had a rest. Sitting across
from me was a large noisy family. When I finally decided to leave, they were leaving too. Suddenly, the mum
approached me. I know some Spanish, but not enough to understand this woman. I eventually understood she was
saying that I looked hot. “Yes, I am,” I said. She then told me her family would go swimming in a faraway river
and asked if I would like to join them. After I accepted her invitation, she guided me down a path into the forest,
across an ancient stone bridge, and onto a river beach. Her family were already in the water and I dived in. The
water was a delight, cool and seeming to cling (紧贴) to my skin. I didn’t want to overstay my welcome so after ten
minutes I dressed, said goodbye and walked back.
I’ve wondered ever since why the mum did it. She could have just let me go on my own. But despite being
surrounded by a noisy family, she’d noticed this lone stranger sweating away and knew she could help. I think it’s
perhaps easier to be kind to strangers, especially those you don’t share a language with. This stranger — I wouldn’t
recognize her even if I saw her again — also taught me the importance of kindness. I thought of her when a man
with heavy suitcases asked me to show him the way to the way to the correct tube platform at a particularly
complicated station. Of course I said even though I was already late.
56.What was the weather like that day? (no more than 3 words)
57.What did the mum do after the author accepted the invitation? (no more than 10 words)
58.How do you understand the underlined part in Paragraph 3? (no more than 10 words)
59.What lesson did the author learn from the mum? (no more than 10 words)
60.What kindness have you received from a strange? Please explain. (no more than 20 words)
56.Hot. 57.She guided the author to a river beach. 58.Those who don’t speak the same language.
59.Showing your kindness to strangers. 60.When I didn’t find any change on the bus, a kind stranger paid
for me.
The temperatures were above 40 degrees every day, and I would
finish each day completely wet in sweat.( 每天的气温都在40 度以上,我每天都会汗流浃背地结束。)”
After I accepted her invitation, she guided me down a path into the forest,
across an ancient stone bridge, and onto a river beach.(我接受了她的邀请后,她带我沿着一条小路进入森林,
She guided the
author to a river beach.
I know some Spanish, but not enough to understand this woman. I
eventually understood she was saying that I looked hot.(我懂一点西班牙语,但听不懂这个女人的话。
I think it’s perhaps easier to be kind to strangers, especially those
you don’t share a language with.
Those who don’t speak the same language.。
This stranger—I wouldn’t recognize her even if I saw her again—also
taught me the importance of kindness. I thought of her when a man with heavy suitcases asked me to show him the
way to the way to the correct tube platform at a particularly complicated station. Of course I said even though I was
Showing your kindness to strangers.
When I didn’t find any change on the
bus, a kind stranger paid for me.

Smart Creations from China, All Around Me
Dear teachers and classmates,
It’s my great honor to share a “China Smart Creation” that has impressed me deeply — the intelligent
delivery robot.
Last winter, my grandma fell ill and couldn’t go out to buy medicine. The pharmacy was far away, and my
parents were at work. I was worried until I remembered the intelligent delivery robot service in our community. I
placed an order through the app, and in just 20 minutes, the robot arrived at our door. It navigated smoothly through
the neighborhood, avoided obstacles skillfully, and sent a notification to my phone. When I opened the robot’s
compartment with a code, the medicine was still warm. That moment, I felt how technology brings convenience to
life.
It tells me that “China Smart Creation” is not just about advanced technology, but about solving real-life
problems with warmth.
Thank you!
