【答案】18.B 19.B 20.C
M: Thank you, Ms Jackson. I’m honored to talk to your class today about something. I know a thing or
two about being afraid. As you can see, I was born without arms. Every time I fell down I was scared that I
wouldn’t be able to get up. My parents were too poor to afford plastic arms for me but luckily one of my doctors,
Dr Wilson, showed me how to use my feet to do everything. Once I could do a few things by myself, I didn’t feel
scared of being alone anymore. In high school, everyone in my class made fun of me. Every tome I was afraid of
what they would say. That was the hardest and darkest time in my life. But my teacher, Mrs Dalton, made sure I
stayed focused on my school work. She taught me to be strong and confident. Once I realized that it didn’t matter
what other people thought of me, I wasn’t scared of being in the crowds any more. Now that I have my own
successful law company in Manchester, I can afford those plastic arms. Maybe I will get them one day, but for now
my missing arms remind me every day that I don’t have anything to be afraid of.

Kristina Smith was running the California International Marathon in 2019, grabbing cups of water to drink,
when she started to think about how much waste such events produce. On the flight home, she did the math: 9,000
runners, 17 aid stations and something like 150,000 cups used once and thrown away. That sparked her idea for
something more environmental — a lightweight cup that could be used again and again. After working out a
design, Kristina ordered her first shipment and tested them at a race in 2021.
As she was getting her business off the ground, Kristina emailed race directors to ask if their event used
disposable ( 一次性的) cups. “The answer was always yes,” she said. Her response, “If you’re looking for a
sustainable solution, I have one.” Now she rents out the cups by the thousand, driving them to events in big bags
and leaving bins with the company logo for collection after use. Kristina picks up the used cups and washes them in
a specialized dishwasher.
“It’s just a solution to a problem that has been around for a long time,” Kristina said. Nevertheless, one
trade-off is that the cup rentals cost race directors more than other options. Disposable cups might run just a few
cents each, while 10,000 reusable cups would rent for about 15 cents each.
Gleeson, of Project Drawdown, sees the reusable cups as just one of many ways that innovators(创新者) are
looking to cut down on plastic waste. Such solutions often have to be rooted in convenience and grounded in local
applications to get more people to adopt them. Some cities, for instance, are experimenting with reusable food
takeout containers that customers return to nearby drop-off spots later on.
While no one solution can fully tackle the problem, “The potential is there,” Gleeson said. “I think in
general, high adoption of these kinds of solutions is what is able to bring costs down and really maximize
environmental benefits that you could get.”
24.What inspired Kristina to design reusable cups?
A.The suggestion from marathon race directors.
B.Her own experience in reducing plastic waste.
C.High price paid by marathon runners for cups.
D.The huge number of cups wasted in a marathon.
25.What is the main challenge of Kristina’s reusable cups?
A.High rental cost.
B.Poor user experience.
C.Unsatisfying quality.
D.Complex washing process.
26.What can we learn from the last two paragraphs?
A.Reusable cups are sufficient to reduce plastic waste.
B.Innovation should attach importance to reducing costs.
C.Solutions should fit local use and be convenient for adopters.
D.Cities have made great progress in reducing plastic waste.
27.What is the author’s purpose in writing this article?
A.To describe the ways of producing reusable cups.
B.To compare the costs of single-use and reusable cups.
C.To criticize race events for causing environmental damage.
D.To report a rental-cup plan for reducing plastic waste in races.
【答案】24.D 25.A 26.C 27.D
Kristina Smith was running the California International Marathon in 2019,
grabbing cups of water to drink, when she started to think about how much waste such events produce. On the
flight home, she did the math: 9,000 runners, 17 aid stations and something like 150,000 cups used once and

Nevertheless, one trade-off is that the cup rentals cost race directors more
than other options. Disposable cups might run just a few cents each, while 10,000 reusable cups would rent for
故选A。
Such solutions often have to be rooted in convenience and grounded in
local applications to get more people to adopt them.(这样的解决方案通常必须以便利为根基,以本地应用为基

A self-driving robot has been introduced recently. This robot is useful because it takes over regular
monitoring tasks from police officers. This lets the officers focus on other important jobs related to keeping the
community safe. As a live monitoring system, it allows people at the communication center to watch the camera
feeds in real time.
The robot has four cameras built into it, and they keep recording all the time. So, wherever the robot goes, it
collects all the visual and surrounding information. This makes sure it gathers complete data(数据) when it is being
used. Besides, the robot is able to read license plates(车牌号码) by itself so it can recognise and record the cars in
parking areas, which helps track cars easily.
Another important part of the robot is an easy-to-use button. If people need help or want to get in touch with
the communication center, they can simply press the button. On the other side, security(安全) workers watch the
system all the time. They can send messages through the robot to those who pressed the button. If something bad
happens, the police can see the situation right away through the robot’s cameras. Then they can come quickly to
check what is going on.
The self-driving robot gave a good performance at a conference, which made people think it could be used in
parks, since there have been more worries about park safety lately.
The robot moves along a pre-set path, but this path can be changed to meet different needs. For example, it
can be adjusted(调整) when there are special events or when the safety needs of the park change. To keep people
safe when they are near the robot, the robot is made to stop for a short time if it senses someone getting too close.
All the data from the robot, including the video recordings, is saved. If a dangerous event happens, these recordings
can be looked at later. This helps work out what happened step by step.
28.What is one function of the robot’s cameras?
A.They record continuously to collect data.
B.They recognise users by their facial features.
C.They send out safety warnings in crowded areas.
D.They allow the public to control the robot’s movement.
29.What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A.The details of the robot’s camera system.
B.The robot’s ability to deal with large amounts of data.
C.The history of robotic development for security purposes.
D.The communication between the public and security workers.
30.Why did people consider using the robot in parks?
A.To attract more visitors.
B.To raise safety levels.
C.To take the place of human workers.
D.To meet the government’s requirements.
31.Which can be the best title for the text?
A.The Rise of Modern Policing
B.New Technologies Are Changing Lifestyle
C.The Development of Robots in Event Management
D.The Self-Driving Robot Is Improving Public Security
【答案】28.A 29.D 30.B 31.D

So, wherever the robot goes, it collects all the visual and surrounding information.( 这个机器人内置了四个摄像
故选A 项。
Another important part of the robot is an easy-to-use button. If people need help
or want to get in touch with the communication center, they can simply press the button. On the other side, security
workers watch the system all the time. They can send messages through the robot to those who pressed the button.

The education technology (edtech) industry has grown rapidly in recent years, with investment (投资) in this
field increasing more than forty times over the last decade. As a result, the market is being flooded with new tools
and new edtech companies, making it hard for school leaders and teachers to figure out which tools will actually
work best in the classroom.
“Only 11% of education decision makers were looking at any type of evidence to make a purchasing
decision on an edtech tool,” said Isabelle Hau, executive director of the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, an
organization that helps improve how well children and adults learn. “And only 7% of edtech tools around the world
have any kind of strict, dependable evidence that they work.”
Besides the lack of research on which tools help students get better grades in this fast-growing edtech field,
making sure everyone can get these tools fairly is also challenging. “Many of these tools aren’t shared fairly. This
has to do with who pays the money for them and how the money is provided,” Ms. Hau explained. “Around the
world, there’s still a huge divide in how easy it is for people in different places to use digital tools (like computers
and tablets).”
Hau joins GSE Dean Dan Schwartz and Senior Lecturer Denise Pope as they discuss edtech’s rocketing
growth, what’s driving that growth, and how school leaders, the government, and other organizations can help
teachers get the tools that will best serve their students.
“A lot of people are working on it, including us, of course, because we have a big role to play in improving
learning outcomes for children and educators,” Hau said. She also shared tips and resources for businessmen
looking to get into the edtech space. “You need to start small, and you need to start with a handful of partners that
love your solution. And then from there you can expect to grow in size.”
32.What might be the school leaders’ concern about edtech tools?
A.Originality.
B.Effectiveness.
C.Safety.
D.Convenience.
33.What does the underlined part “a huge divide” in paragraph 3 probably refer to?
A.The inequality in access to digital tools.
B.The difference in the quality of edtech products.
C.The gap in digital skills between teachers and students.
D.The imbalance in educational development across regions.
34.What is Hau’s suggestion for businessmen interested in edtech?
A.Dream big.
B.Seek investment.
C.Be practical.
D.Be independent.
35.What’s the author’s purpose in writing the text?
A.To recommend edtech products and services.
B.To complain about the poor quality of edtech tools.
C.To provide detailed guidance on choosing edtech tools.
D.To expose the challenges in the fast-growing edtech field.
【答案】32.B 33.A 34.C 35.D
The education technology (edtech) industry has grown rapidly in recent years,
with investment (投资) in this field increasing more than forty times over the last decade. As a result, the market is
being flooded with new tools and new edtech companies, making it hard for school leaders and teachers to figure
out which tools will actually work best in the classroom.(近年来,教育科技行业发展迅猛,过去十年间,该领
Many of these tools aren’t shared fairly. This has to do with who pays the
money for them and how the money is provided,” Ms. Hau explained. “Around the world, there’s still a huge divide
in how easy it is for people in different places to use digital tools (like computers and tablets).”(Hau 女士解释道:
“许多工具并没有得到公平共享。这关系到谁来为这些工具买单,以及资金是如何提供的。”“在全球范
围内,不同地区的人们使用数字工具(如电脑和平板电脑)的便利程度仍存在a huge divide。”)”可知,此
处指世界各地的人们使用数字工具的难易程度存在巨大差距,即数字工具获取的不平等性,a huge divide
的意思是“数字工具获取的不平等性”。故选A。
She also shared tips and resources for businessmen looking to get into the
edtech space. “You need to start small, and you need to start with a handful of partners that love your solution. And
then from there you can expect to grow in size.”(她还为有意进入教育科技领域的商人分享了建议和资源。
“你需要从小处着手,你需要从一些喜欢你的解决方案的合作伙伴开始。然后从那里你可以期待规模的增
长。”)”可知,Hau 建议有意进入教育科技领域的商人要从小处着手,务实一些。故选C。
35.推理判断题。根据第一段中“As a result, the market is being flooded with new tools and new edtech
companies, making it hard for school leaders and teachers to figure out which tools will actually work best in the
Besides the lack of research on which tools help
students get better grades in this fast-growing edtech field, making sure everyone can get these tools fairly is also

FPS gameplay: A beginner’s Guide
First-person shooter (FPS) games, featuring weapon-based combat from a character’s viewpoint, present a
notable learning curve for newcomers. Titles like Half-life and Valorant demand not only quick reflexes but also
strategic thinking, creating an initial barrier to entry. 36
The following practical advice provides a structured foundation for navigating this challenging genre.
● Improve Your Setup
Before engaging in complex tactics, ensure your equipment supports your progress. A stable internet
connection is essential. Carefully adjust your mouse sensitivity to balance precision and mobility. 37

Familiarize yourself with key bindings and consider customization. A proper setup forms the bedrock of competent
performance.
● Master the basics
Resist the urge to immediately replicate advanced maneuvers. Focus squarely on core mechanics: disciplined
movement and consistent aim. Practice moving side-to-side while maintaining accurate crosshair placement. 38
Regular sessions in aim training modes build the essential muscle memory for success.
    39
Progress in FPS games is rarely steady. When facing defeat, shift focus to analytical review. Examining
moments where you were eliminated reveals positioning errors and flawed decisions. Celebrate small victories, as
these confirm genuine improvement and maintain motivation.
● Develop Game Awareness
Technical skill alone is insufficient. Understanding the game’s flow is equally crucial. Learn map layouts,
common engagement points, and auditory cues like footsteps. Maintain awareness of the mini-map and teammate
communications. 40 This accumulated knowledge enables you to anticipate enemy movements and make
superior tactical choices.
A.Develop a Growth Mindset
B.Learn from your mistakes constructively
C.Therefore, a systematic approach to learning is essential
D.This fundamental skill is critical for winning individual gunfights
E.A deep understanding of game mechanics often separates experienced players from beginners
F.Investing in a large mouse pad can help with the wider arm movements needed for lower sensitivities
G.Over time, you will start to predict opponent strategies and create effective counter-plays
【答案】36.C 37.F 38.D 39.A 40.G
First-person shooter (FPS) games, featuring weapon-based combat from a character’s viewpoint,
present a notable learning curve for newcomers. Titles like Half-life and Valorant demand not only quick reflexes
but also strategic thinking, creating an initial barrier to entry.
C 选项“Therefore, a systematic approach to learning is essential (因此,采用系统的方法来学习是至关
37.上文提到“Carefully adjust your mouse sensitivity to balance precision and mobility. (仔细调整鼠标灵敏度
以平衡精确度和移动性。)”这说明了调整鼠标灵敏度的重要性。F 选项“Investing in a large mouse pad can
help with the wider arm movements needed for lower sensitivities
Focus squarely on core mechanics: disciplined movement and consistent aim. Practice moving
side-to-side while maintaining accurate crosshair placement.
D 选项“This
fundamental skill is critical for winning individual gunfights
Progress in FPS games is rarely steady. When facing defeat, shift focus to analytical review.
Examining moments where you were eliminated reveals positioning errors and flawed decisions. Celebrate small
victories, as these confirm genuine improvement and maintain motivation.
故选A。
Understanding the game’s flow is equally crucial. Learn map layouts, common engagement
points, and auditory cues like footsteps. Maintain awareness of the mini-map and teammate communications.
G 选项“Over time, you will start to predict
opponent strategies and create effective counter-plays

Dear Mr. Smith,
I’m writing to invite you to join our school’s rural life experience activity that is scheduled for this Sunday.
We’ll gather at the school gate and leave by school bus at 8 a.m., after which we’ll head to a nearby village.
Upon arrival, we’ll get to help local farmers pick fresh vegetables that are just ripe in the fields and chat with
villagers to hear stories about their daily lives — stories that will help us understand how they work, rest, and
cherish the simple joys around them.
I’m sure this activity will be an unforgettable experience. Hope you can accept the invitation.
Warm regards,
Li Hua

Last year, when my big brother Jed got Shyla, he said I could help take care of her. He added that in about a
year, we’d give Shyla back to The Seeing Eye. And then she’d be ready to learn to be a dog guide for someone who
can’t see. A year seemed like a long time back then.
I remember the day when Shyla was brought to our house. She was only eight weeks old, and she came with
a bag of puppy food and a lot of instructions. That night she whimpered and cried. Jed said she missed her puppy
brothers and sisters.
“She can sleep in my bed,” I told Jed, but he said Shyla could never sleep on any furniture, not even the
couch. He rolled out his sleeping bag on the floor and lay down with Shyla by his bed. I put my sleeping bag on the
other side of Shyla. “Remember, Jenny, everything we do for Shyla is because of the blind person she’ll work for
later on,” Jed said to me. He had his arm around Shyla and his eyes were closed. “If her blind person wakes up in
the night and needs her, Shyla will have to be right there on the floor by the bed,” added Jed.
When I woke up early the next morning, Jed was already heading out the back door with Shyla in his arms. I
hurried to go along. I thought maybe we’d all play in the yard before breakfast. But Jed said no. It wasn’t playtime.
Our puppy needed to learn to go to the bathroom outside. Jed brought her back in right away, saying “Good dog.”
I did get to play with Shyla then. But we stayed in the kitchen behind the baby gates where Mom used to
keep me safe when I was little. Everything was more fun with Shyla around. Even dinner time. Jed trained Shyla to
lie on the floor near his left foot every time he ate. “That’s where the blind person will need her to be,” he
explained.

After Shyla was 13 weeks old, we took her everywhere. Whether it was a trip to the grocery store or
a stroll in the park, Shyla was always by our side, learning and adapting to different environments. She became
quite adept at navigating through crowds and staying calm amidst the hustle and bustle. People often stopped us to
admire her and ask about her training. I felt proud explaining that she was being trained to be a guide dog for the
blind, knowing that every experience was preparing her for her future role.
Last week our year was up. It was time to say goodbye to Shyla and return her to The Seeing Eye. The day
was filled with mixed emotions. I was sad to see her go, but also excited and hopeful for her future. We packed up
her things and took her back to the training center. There, we met her new trainer and watched as she confidently
walked away with them, ready to embark on the next phase of her journey. I knew that Shyla would make a
wonderful guide dog and bring light and independence to someone's life, just as she had brought joy and
companionship to ours during our time together.
