Hello everyone! Meet my new friend Marco. He says Ciao! This means hello in his language. Marco
travelled with me this month. When he showed me his country on the map, I was attracted by its shape. It looks like
a high-heeled boot (高跟靴) in the Mediterranean Sea that’s kicking a strange-shaped ball. Can you find the name
of this ball on the world map?
Marco told me that he loves cars and that his country is well-known for super-fast cars like Ferrari,
Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. Isn’t it cool? The people also love soccer here. They call it “Calcio.” He
told me that they have won four World Cups. The most recent win was in 2006! When he shared this with me, he
was very excited and full of pride
We visited the country’s capital and I was amazed to find that it was more than 2500 years old! We walked
around and soon it was time for dinner. Marco told me that people there eat pasta (意大利面食) at least once a day.
The different sauces and toppings (酱汁和佐料) mean they never get bored of it. Also, they love including seasonal
vegetables in their dinners. I couldn’t wait to enjoy the pizza and pasta with different toppings and sauces. The
cappuccino and focaccia bread also made me happy. It’s no wonder that the world has adopted so much of their
food! The people in this country celebrate many holidays and enjoy eating big meals with their family. The festive
atmosphere makes everyone happy.
I was lucky to travel to this country in March and enjoy the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. It is held for four
days every year. We also visited the Colosseum, Pantheon, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which was really
wonderful! Before I said goodbye to Marco, I made a promise to visit again. Can you guess the name of this
country?

C
Travel has long been celebrated for its ability to overpass different countries, connect people from diverse
backgrounds. Certain destinations may hold a special appeal to different people. For example, someone who values
adventure and outdoor activities may be more likely to visit destinations known for their natural landscapes and
outdoor amusement opportunities. On the other hand, someone with a strong love for history may be drawn to
destinations with rich history, tradition, and cultural diversity.
Portugal belongs to the latter. Tourism in this country plays a crucial role in promoting cross-cultural
understanding and building meaningful connections between travelers and local communities. As travelers immerse
(沉浸) themselves in new experiences, engage with local communities, and step outside their comfort zones, they
gain a deeper appreciation for the complexities of different cultures and perspectives.
Cultural exchange here is not just a concept — it is a lived experience that enriches the lives of both travelers
and locals. From participating in traditional festivals and cooking experiences to learning age-old customs, travelers
have countless opportunities to break down cultural barriers and connect with Portuguese culture on a personal
level.
In Portugal, tourism has become a chance for amplifying diverse voices and stories that might otherwise go
unheard. Through initiatives such as community-based tourism projects and storytelling workshops, travelers can
engage with local communities in meaningful ways, promoting mutual (相互的) respect.
With the European Structural and Investment funds (ESIF) support, Portugal is building roads, expanding
airports, and improving public transportation systems, making it easier for tourists to explore beyond popular cities
like Lisbon and Porto. These improvements are vital for unlocking the potential of lesser-known regions, allowing
visitors to experience the diverse landscapes and rich cultural heritage found throughout the countryside. This
ensures that all regions of Portugal can share in the benefits of a booming tourism, attracting a broader audience of
travelers eager to discover new destinations.
8.What makes Portugal special in terms of tourism characteristics?
A.Its cross-cultural location.
B.Its diverse cultural heritage.
C.Its places for entertainment.
D.Its adventurous routes.
9.How can tourists deepen their cross-cultural understanding with locals in Portugal?
A.By preserving Portugal’s cultural heritage.
B.By focusing on visiting local landmarks.
C.By providing economic benefits to communities.
D.By joining in community-based tourism activities.
10.Which is closest in meaning to the underlined word “amplifying” in paragraph 4?
A.Increasing.
B.Transforming.
C.Evaluating.
D.Labelling.
11.What’s the main purpose for Portugal’s starting up large-scale transportation construction?
A.To improve the services of popular cities.
B.To offer more tourist destinations for the locals.
C.To attract more tourists to explore its countryside.
D.To bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.
D
Most of the body of research devoted to fatherhood has understandably been focused on how children
benefit from the presence of a male parent. However, more attention is gradually being paid to the value of
fatherhood to men themselves. Not just kids benefit a lot from involved and engaged dads, but so do adults.
Research has demonstrated there to be a host of positive effects of parenting among men, with fathers finding the
time spent with their children to be rewarding and meaningful on many levels.
As any dad will tell you, fathers can learn a great deal from a child by spending both quality and quantity
time with him or her, so much so that the former’s world view is typically irrevocably ( 不可逆转地) changed.
While much is known about kids’ psychological gains when they receive their fathers’ love, newer research is
showing that fathers also benefit from the emotional bond they share with a child.
The emotional benefits to be realized from fatherhood relate directly to the level of involvement in their kids’
lives. In 1989, Marjory Roberts reported in Psychology Today the results of a recently conducted longitudinal ( 纵
向的) study of more than 200 fathers showing that being a dad was a positive experience in a psychological sense,
specifically by functioning as a means of developing greater empathy (共情). The finding was consistent with Erik
Erikson’s theory of “generativity,” which held that humans achieved full maturity only when they advanced the
lives of children in some way.
The other good news in this study was that, contrary to popular belief, the careers of men did not suffer when
they became fathers or stepped up their involvement. And, as many previous studies had showed, children benefited
greatly from having their dads around. Both boys and girls became more confident and mature with the presence of
an engaged father.
12.What is the primary focus of most research on fatherhood?
A.The psychological benefits for fathers.
B.The emotional impact of fatherhood.
C.How children benefit from their fathers.
D.The bond between fathers and kids.
13.According to Marjory’s study in 1989, what psychological benefit did fathers experience?
A.Greater maturity and self-regulation.
B.Greater confidence in their careers.
C.More positive attitudes in daily life.
D.More positive psychological states.
14.According to the theory of “generativity”, who is most likely to achieve full maturity?
A.A father who often blames his son.
B.A father who is indifferent to his son.
C.A father who is strict with his son.
D.A father who educates his son well.
15.Which conclusion can be drawn from the last paragraph?
A.Kids benefit a lot from having a good father around.
B.Fathers’ roles will shape their kids’ future.
C.Fathers now tend to care more about their families.
D.Fathers’ work-life balance may be disrupted by their kids.

Your doctor may have given you a warning about your blood pressure or blood sugar levels creeping higher,
if you’re not to control one or both of them. Your doctor may also have told you that reducing your intake of
sodium (钠) and added sugars can help improve your blood pressure and blood sugar levels, respectively. 16
.
Start reading labels. “The Nutrition Facts label on food packaging makes it easy to see exactly how much
sodium and added sugars are in each serving,” says Vadiveloo, an associate professor of nutrition and food
sciences.
Cook more at home. Most of the sodium in our diet comes from processed foods and restaurant meals. 17
. Cut out one restaurant meal a day or week in favor of home cooking and you can save yourself thousands of
milligrams of sodium and many grams of added sugar.
18 . While some people are able to cut down on salt and sugar quickly, others might need to take a
more gradual approach. It may be more practical to give your taste buds time to adjust to the change. For instance,
if you typically add 2 teaspoons of sugar to your coffee, reduce it to 1. 5 teaspoons, then 1, then 0. 5 over a week or
two. 19 . Try low-sodium soup or pasta sauce.
Don’t aim for perfection. “Making changes can be challenging,” Vadiveloo says. Every day and every meal
are a new opportunity to cut back. 20 , don’t beat yourself up or assume you can’t stick with this new
dietary approach long-term. You’ll get better over time.
A.Go slow
B.Find sweet alternatives
C.If you do have a salty or sugary meal
D.The same subtle shifts work for sodium
E.Even if you often go out to eat with your friends
F.Here’s what you can do to reduce your intake of these two common ingredients
G.Anything pre-prepared at the grocery store will also probably have added sodium

As a busy working mother and lawyer, I 21 have time to revisit my love for literature. Yet every

This month, we discussed a novel I had 29 disliked for its slow pace and unreliable narrator.
However, as my fellow graduates shared their insights on what made the novel so great, my perspective gradually

第二节(共15 小题:每小题1 分,满分15 分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入1 个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
The world's water moves between lakes, rivers, oceans, the atmosphere and the land in 36 ongoing
cycle called the water cycle. As it goes through this continuous system, it can be a liquid (water), a gas (vapor)
37 a solid (ice). Let's take a look at the different 38 (stage) of the wonderful water cycle.
Energy from the sun heats up the surface of the Earth, causing the temperature of the water in our rivers,
lakes and oceans 39 (rise). When this happens, some of the water evaporates into the air, turning into a
gas called vapor. This process is known as“evaporation”. As water vapor rises high into the sky, it 40

(cool) and turns back into a liquid, forming clouds. This process is called “condensation”. When too much water
has condensed, the water droplets in the clouds grow in size and 41 (weigh). As a result, they fall back to
the Earth. This overall process is called “precipitation”. The fallen precipitation 42 (collect) in bodies of
water. These include rivers 43 flow across the land, lakes that are often formed in natural basins, and the
vast oceans that cover a 44 (significance) part of the Earth's surface. Over time, it will eventually
evaporate back into the air, 45 (begin) the cycle all over again.

第二节(满分25 分)
47.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was a typical busy noon at the downtown fast-food spot. The smell of sizzling patties and crispy fries
lingered (弥漫) in the air, and the place was packed with folks rushing to grab a quick meal. I’d just gotten off a
long morning at work, and my stomach was empty as I finally reached the front of the line and got my order-a
burger, fries, and a cold drink.
As I set the tray (托盘) down on a small table by the window, I glanced over and saw two firefighters in the
corner. Their uniforms were heavy with faint spots, like they’d just stepped away from a smoky scene, and their
boots still held a hint of damp from the morning dew. They stood in the back of the line, shoulders relaxed but eyes
tired.
I was just about to pick up my burger-the cheese melted perfectly-when a loud, sharp siren ( 警报) cut
through the noise of the restaurant. The two firefighters froze for half a second, and then moved. No hesitation, no
exchange of words — just muscle memory. One grabbed his helmet off the nearby counter, the other adjusted his
radio on his shoulder, and they turned toward the door, their steps quickening. I watched them go, and my fork
paused mid-air.
My empty stomach served as a quiet reminder of how long I’d waited for this meal. I’d stood in that line for
15 minutes, my feet aching from the morning’s work. Giving them my lunch meant I would have to wait again-
maybe another line, maybe my break slipping away faster. I bit my lip, staring at the tray. Then I thought of their
uniforms, the spots, the way they’d act upon hearing the siren like it was a call they couldn’t ignore. They didn’t get
to pause for a meal when emergencies hit. They’d probably go hours without eating, running from one call to the
next.
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150 左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
My hesitation melted away.
