云南昆明市第一中学等校2026 届高三2 月复习诊断英语试题
Nearly four decades ago, Liu Qingjie, a hobbyist invention lover from Shandong, started chasing a “flying
dream” — designing a functional flying machine. His effort to build a plane was met with cold suspicion: he spent
over 1.5 million yuan and 10 years on experiments, yet villagers dismissed him as a hopeless dreamer and his family
pressured him to quit.
Back then, Liu saw his dream as a lonely battle. But things shifted when a local village official offered a
game-changing suggestion, “Why not repurpose the design into a pesticide-spraying (农药喷洒) flying umbrella to
assist farmers?” The idea clicked: Liu shifted his focus, trading a personal dream for a practical goal.
Liu dived into the new project. Lacking expertise, he studied online guides and tested gliders (滑翔机) and
hot air balloons — all crashed. Yet he grew “resistant” to setbacks, driven by the thought of helping his neighbors
while still achieving his flying dream.
The pesticide aircraft required two key features: ultra-short takeoff (for small farm fields) and stable low-level
flight. After months of adjustments, he built a flying umbrella that met both needs.
His first test was make-or-break. The flying umbrella took off. It flew at an overly sharp angle, nearly tearing
its ropes apart — luckily, he landed safely. Next, he succeeded in the low-level test, flying steadily 3 meters above a
balloon, which he’d never managed before. After fixing minor imperfections, he took it to the fields just as pesticide
season began.
A villager challenged him to a “human vs. machine” spray contest. The villagers rushed to start, but once
Liu’s flying umbrella took off, it sped across the fields in seconds. Soon, the tired villagers slowed down; Liu
finished first.
The once-doubtful crowd now cheered. Liu’s dream hadn’t disappeared — it had transformed: what started as
a mere personal ambition became a tool that lightened his neighbors’ burdens.
24.Why did Liu’s family disapprove of him?
A.His invention didn’t benefit villagers.
B.The villagers held a doubtful attitude.
C.He spent too much money and energy.
D.The government objected to his vision.
25.What can we know about Liu’s pesticide-spraying flying umbrella?
A.It enhanced flexibility at great heights.
B.It could extend long-distance range.
C.It was capable of taking off in limited spaces.
D.It enlarged the capacity to store pesticides.
26.Why was a “human vs. machine” spray contest launched?
A.To prove the effectiveness of the flying umbrella.
B.To fix the imperfection of the flying umbrella.
C.To persuade villagers to use the flying umbrella.
D.To draw authority’s concern about flying umbrella.
27.What is the best title for the text?
A.The Battle Between Human and Machine
B.The Challenges of Building a Pesticide Aircraft
C.A Village’s Battle Against Farm Work Tiredness
D.A Dream Redefined: From Disapproval to Applause

广西南宁市第二中学2025-2026 学年2 月高三月考英语试题
Walking is often overlooked as a mere means of getting from A to B.However, neuroscientist Shane O’Mara
argues that walking is a “superpower” that makes us healthier, happier, and brainier. In his research, O’Mara
emphasizes that our bodies evolved to move. When we walk, the brain functions better. Unlike many other forms of
exercise, regular walking can unlock the cognitive ( 认知的) powers of the brain-once we find our rhythm, our
constrained ( 被约束的) minds are free to wander, leading to increased creativity and better problem-solving
abilities.
The benefits of walking extend far beyond physical fitness. O’Mara points out that walking contributes to the
release of “brain-derived neurotrophic factor” (BDNF), a protein that acts like a fertilizer for our brain cells. This
process helps in the creation of new memories and keeps the brain “young”. Moreover, walking in natural settings —
often referred to as “green walking” — has been to significantly reduce stress levels and improve our emotional
well-being compared to walking in urban environments.
Interestingly, walking also serves as a social glue. When people walk together, they often find it easier to
exchange their thoughts. O’Mara suggests that the rhythmic feature of walking helps to adjust our internal rhythms,
making us more open to conversation and cooperation. This is why many great thinkers throughout history, from
Aristotle to Steve Jobs, preferred “walking meetings” to discuss complex ideas. The philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche
once said that “only thoughts reached by walking have value”, an idea that Charles Dickens would have approved of
without doubt.
With the modernization of society, people have grown increasingly inactive from sitting for long periods. To
reclaim our superpower, we don’t need expensive gym memberships or specialized equipment. Simply integrating a
30-minute walk into our daily routine can have profound effects on our cognitive health and overall quality of life.
28.Why is walking considered a “superpower” according to Shane O’Mara?
A.It sharpens critical thinking.
B.It aids in finding walking rhythms.
C.It boosts overall well-being.
D.It helps maintain cognitive ability.
29.What do we know about BDNF?
A.It is helpful for forming new memories. B.It is released by walking in natural settings.
C.It is a kind of fertilizer for human bodies.D.It directly improves people’s physical fitness.
30.What does O’Mara try to explain by mentioning many great thinkers?
A.The value of cooperation.
B.The benefits of discussion.
C.The importance of rhythm.
D.The advantages of walking.
31.What is the author’s main purpose in writing the text?
A.To explore modern living habits.
B.To encourage an active lifestyle.
C.To present a new research finding.
D.To compare different workout forms.

辽宁名校联盟2025-2026 学年高三下学期3 月模拟考试英语试题
No one likes the sound of someone else’s chewing or drinking. But for some people, it’s enough to cause
uncontrollable feelings of anger or disgust. If this sounds like you, you possibly suffer from a disorder known as
misophonia (恐音症). People with misophonia overreact to some everyday sounds, especially those made by others.
Though the phenomenon has been well documented, what exactly causes it hasn’t been clear.
Now a recent paper in The Journal of Neuroscience provides a persuasive explanation — misophonia isn’t
related to hearing so much as to excessive mirror-neuron (镜像神经元) activity in the observer when he is watching
or hearing someone else’s orofacial (口面部) actions. The study, led by Sukhinder Kumar at Newcastle University,
shows that too much mirroring causes anger in some sufferers, and anxiety in others.
The so-called “mirror neurons” were first discovered in monkeys. Groups of these neurons prove a boon to
monkeys. The neural system is thought to aid learning from others, and also cooperation with each other, so that a
group can hunt together effectively. For example, in people, there is evidence for mirror systems for movement and
emotion.
Misophonia has been thought of as a disorder of sound emotion processing. However, Kumar and his
colleagues are doubtful about this theory. The team analyzed the fMRI brain scan data on 42 people with and
without misophonia while they listened to trigger sounds, including breathing and chewing gum. People with
misophonia showed stronger connectivity between the auditory cortex (大脑皮层) and the orofacial motor area. The
fact that the misophonia group showed differences specifically involving facial motor regions indicates misophonia
is caused by mirroring someone else’s facial movements — rather than abnormal sound processing.
For some sufferers and their families, misophonia is a very serious problem. According to Pradeep, a
neuroscientist with a PhD, the new study opens a novel window into treatment options for misophonia. “Instead of
focusing on sound centers in the brain that many existing therapies do, effective therapies should consider motor
areas of the brain as well,” said Pradeep.
32.What is the main focus of the new study?
A.Defining a common phenomenon in life.
B.Exploring the troubles of people with misophonia.
C.Investigating why certain sounds drive people crazy.
D.Analyzing the impact of certain sounds on people’s behavior.
33.What does the underlined word “boon” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Character.
B.Evidence.
C.Source.
D.Blessing.
34.How do the researchers conduct their study?
A.By having people copy chewing sounds.
B.By asking people to describe their feelings.
C.By letting people check their face in mirrors.
D.By monitoring brains during exposure to sounds.
35.Which of the following can best summarize Pradeep’s view on the significance of the new study?
A.It stresses sound avoidance for sufferers.
B.It offers a new direction for better treatments.
C.It confirms misophonia as a sound-emotion disorder.
D.It shows a need for behavioral symptom management.

Effective Note- Taking for Academic Success
Taking good notes is a key skill for high school students, especially when preparing for exams. It helps
organize information, remember better, and save revision time. However, many students struggle with how to take
notes efficiently. Here are some practical tips to help you take better notes.
Focus on key points rather than every word the teacher says. Teachers often emphasize important concepts
through tone, repetition, or gestures. 36 For example, if the teacher says “The Industrial Revolution began in
Britain in the late 18th century and transformed manufacturing (制造业),” you can write “Ind. Rev.: Britain, late
18th c., changed manufacturing.”
Use short forms and signs to save time. Short forms can make note-taking much faster. Common ones include
“info” for information, “w/” for with, and arrows to show cause-effect links. 37 You can also make up your
own short forms for subject-specific words, as long as you can understand them later.
38 Leaving blank spaces between main points allows you to add details or connections when
reviewing. This also makes your notes easier to read and navigate. Additionally, using different colors for headings,
key terms, and examples can help you distinguish important information at a glance (扫一眼).
Look over your notes within 24 hours of writing them. Checking your notes regularly helps you remember
what you learned quickly. This step helps move information from short-term to long-term memory. You can also add
notes by writing down questions, connecting related topics, or fixing mistakes. 39
40 It combines focus, conciseness ( 简洁), organization, and timely review. By practicing these
methods, you can improve learning efficiency and achieve better academic results.
A.Keep your notes organized and neat.
B.Reviewing turns them into a helpful study tool.
C.Fill the blank spaces on old notes to save paper.
D.However, don’t rely only on widely used symbols.
E.Structured formats like headings or mind maps help too.
F.Write key nouns, verbs and ideas instead of full sentences.
G.In short, note-taking is an essential skill that students should master.

67.“Will you please go on a beach walk with me?” My nine-year-old daughter Susie gazed up at me with
her eager eyes. But my never-ending to-do list came into my heaD.I glanced over at the dinner dishes piled high in
the sink, and then I heard the dryer buzzing (发出嗡嗡声).
“Maybe tomorrow night. I have to do the dishes and fold the clothes, and I'm exhausted,” I refused. This was
our first summer living in our house by the beach. Spending all day in the sand wasn’t enough for her.
“Please, Mom. The summer is fading away,” Susie begged. She was right again.Summer was short in New
England. But for me, there was always a to-do list, and going for a beach walk after dinner seemed like a waste of
time, especially after spending all day sitting in the sand.
“Oh, all right. But it has to be a quick walk,” I said. Susie screamed with excitement.
As we walked along the shoreline, she couldn’t wait to pick pieces of shells and then pointed out the sun
setting and the beautiful pink-and-orange sky. I didn’t notice much of anything except the time ticking (滴答地走时)
by on my phone. After fifteen minutes, I said, “Okay, time to go home.” During the following week, I still took her
for a beach walk after dinner, feeling like the walk was yet another task I was being forced to complete.
One day, as we were on the way home, Susie asked, “Mom, did you see the sea birds skipping over the
waves? Their wings looked golden in the sunset.” I froze. I had seen nothing — in those fifteen minutes, I had
checked the time many times, mentally debating whether to fold the clothes or load the dishwasher first. It was then
that I realized my endless to-do list was robbing me of joy in my life.
