Passage 1:
Nowadays, we teenagers have been exposed to various digital devices. We have become so dependent on
technology that we are losing our ability to connect with one another.
Fortunately, I have benefited a lot from “digital minimalism”. Firstly, I begin to appreciate the world directly
rather than through a screen. For example, I spend more time reading books instead of playing video games.
Secondly, I have become more productive. After getting rid of my phone, I have more time to pursue other hobbies.
I am calling on all of us to put our phones aside and experience this colorful world.
Passage 2:
From what Gorky said, I believe true beauty springs from labor and human wisdom. Last summer, I joined a
community garden project. At first, I doubted my ability to grow anything. Yet as I dug soil, planted seeds, and
watered daily, I witnessed tiny sprouts pushing through earth. My rough hands and sunburned skin felt like badges
of honor when we finally harvested fresh tomatoes. That moment taught me: labor changes both land and spirit.
The sweetness of those tomatoes came not just from sunshine, but from patience and effort.

Passage 1:
Dear David,
I’m writing to seek your help. These days, I’m conducting a survey about teenagers’ reading habits, and I’ve
come across some problems that puzzle me a lot.
First, I find it challenging to design effective survey questions. Many of my questions are either too general or
lead to inaccurate answers, which makes the data unconvincing. Second, I’m not sure how to analyze and present
the collected data in a professional way in English so that I can draw meaningful conclusions.
Could you please offer me some suggestions on how to improve my survey questions and data analysis? I’d
really appreciate your help.
Yours,
Li Hua
Passage 2:
Dear Jason,
How is everything going? I’m writing to ask for your advice on my invention for the school AI competition
“AI for Health”.
I have designed a small AI device to improve teenagers’ physical and mental health. It can monitor daily
exercise, sleep quality and stress levels, and also give helpful suggestions on study and relaxation. Besides, it
provides relaxing music and positive messages to keep us in a good mood.
Since you’re good at AI and design, could you please give me some advice? I wonder whether its functions are
practical and how I can make it better.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

Passage1:
Hello guys! I’m inclined to share my social practice at a nearby vegetable base last Saturday, which turned my
textbook knowledge of labor into real-life learning.
Guided by local farmers, we watered crisp lettuce, cleared stubborn weeds, and sorted plump
tomatoes.Besides, we also learned to identify crop pests, use organic compost, and joined a mini soil fertility
workshop.
Not only did the experience teach me every bite of food stems from persistent care, but it also revealed that
growth thrives amid the sweat of the field. It is these hands-on experiences that let us taste harvest joy and build a
down-to-earth mindset.
Drop your story below!
Passage 2:
Dear Jenny,
I’m writing to invite you to attend a Chinese martial art activity to be held next week.
The activity will take place at the school playground from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday. As you love tai
chi, it’s a great chance for you to communicate with fellow enthusiasts.
During the event, members of the martial art club will show tai chi, kung fu and other forms. There will also
be an exchange session where you can share your experience and even try practicing together.
I sincerely hope you can come and enjoy it. Looking forward to your reply.

Passage1:
Good morning! I feel honored to deliver a speech today. Does listening to music disturb our study? Absolutely
not! Actually, it can serve as a fantastic study companion.
When I’m wrestling with tough problems, soft background music tends to ease my tension, blocking out
random distractions. Whenever I get lost in their catchy tunes and vibrant lyrics, it’s like opening a door to a
linguistic and cultural wonderland. This not only improves my language skills but also gives me a deeper
understanding of Western culture.
Personally, music doesn’t merely make studying less of a chore; it transforms studying into a more enjoyable
and fruitful experience. Let’s embrace music and make learning a truly delightful journey. Thank you for listening!
Passage 2:
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I’m Li Hua, a senior high school student. I’m writing to apply for the volunteer position to receive foreign
tourists during the summer vacation.
I have a good command of English and can communicate fluently with foreigners. Besides, I’m familiar with our
city’s places of interest and culture, which enables me to introduce our city well. I’m also patient and friendly, good
at getting along with people from different countries.
I sincerely hope I can be admitted as a volunteer. I will try my best to do the job well and leave a good
impression on foreign tourists.
Yours faithfully,
Li Hua

Passage 1:
Students’ Preferred Ways of Learning English After Class
A survey about students’ after-class English learning methods is shown above. 75% of students prefer learning
via apps or watching videos, the most popular choice. 60% of students do paper exercises, 55% choose reading
English books or magazines, and only 10% participate in English corner. Digital learning is popular mostly for its
great convenience, which caters to most students’ study requests.
In my opinion, we should combine different ways: practice oral English more besides digital learning to
improve overall ability.
Passage 2:
Small Moves, Big Health
Since the launch of the “Small Moves, Big Health” activity, I've seized fragmented time to practice light
exercise consistently.
During 10-minute class breaks, I skip rope with classmates. On my way to and from school, I walk 20 minutes
instead of taking the bus. After evening self-study, I do 5-minute stretches to relax tired muscles. These tiny acts
have become my daily routine.
The gains are remarkable. Physically, I'm more energetic in classes and rarely get sick. Mentally, short
workouts relieve my study stress, helping me focus better. Truly, small consistent moves bring big health benefits.
I'll stick to these habits, as every tiny step leads to a healthier life.

Passage 1:
Dear Charles,
I’m glad you’re interested in our school’s Chinese traditional culture courses! I highly recommend Chinese
Calligraphy.
Calligraphy isn’t just about writing beautifully — it’s a window into Chinese philosophy, history, and
aesthetics. Through practicing strokes, you’ll learn patience, focus, and the balance of form and spirit. Plus, you’ll
get to use real brushes, ink, and rice paper, which is both relaxing and deeply cultural. Many international students
find it surprisingly enjoyable and meaningful!
If you choose this course, I’d be happy to practice with you after class.
Yours,
Li Hua
Passage 2:
Dear Lisa,
I’m Li Hua from Class 1. I’m writing to talk about our campus English Corner next Saturday morning.
I’ve noticed that students are not very active in participating. The main reasons are that the activity form is
single, usually just free talk, which makes some shy students nervous. Besides, many students think it’s hard to
keep up with others if their English is not good.
To solve this, I suggest adding interesting activities like English games or song singing. It can reduce pressure
and attract more students. Also, we can divide students into small groups according to their English level, so
everyone can join in easily.
I hope my suggestions will help.
Yours,
Li Hua

Dear Peter,
I’m delighted to introduce Chinese culture to your schoolmates. I choose the Spring Festival, which boasts
profound cultural significance.
In the video, I’ll talk about its origin. Then I’ll explore essential and interesting customs like family reunion
dinners and pasting spring couplets. Additionally, I’ll briefly interpret the cultural meaning they carry. I will insert
clips from the video of my family celebrating the Spring Festival so that your schoolmates can directly feel the
warm atmosphere of the Spring Festival in a Chinese family.
What do you think of the video content I’ve planned? If you have any question, email me.
