四、教学总结与反思(Teaching Summary & Reflection)
Summary:
This lesson focused on three common greetings: “Hello”, “Hi”, and “Good morning”. Students listened, looked, and repeated dialogues, learned a song with actions, and practiced pair work. Most students could correctly use “Good morning” with names and understood that it is used in the morning. The song activity greatly increased engagement and helped memorization.
Reflection:
The lesson was lively and age-appropriate. The song was very effective for learning rhythm and vocabulary. However, a few students still said “Good morning” in the afternoon during pair work. In the future, I will add a simple clock drawing on the board and say: “Good morning – sun is up. Afternoon – we say Good afternoon.” For this first lesson, I will focus on “Good morning” first. Also, pair work time was a bit short; next time I will give 2.5 minutes. Overall, students enjoyed the song and the role play.
五、答辩题(Oral Defense Questions & Answers)
Q1: How do you help students understand that “Good morning” is only for the morning?
A1: I use a simple picture of a clock. I draw a sun next to 8:00 and say “Good morning”. Then I draw a moon or afternoon sun and say “Not morning – we don’t say Good morning.” For young learners, I also show a short video of a morning scene. I teach a chant: “Sun is up, morning time – Good morning, good morning!” This visual and rhythmic cue helps them remember.
Q2: What if a student says “Good morning Miss Li” without a comma or pause?
A2: For speaking, I don’t correct punctuation. I gently model the correct intonation with a slight pause: “Good morning… Miss Li.” I have the class repeat after me. As long as the words are clear and polite, it’s acceptable for Grade 3. I will introduce the comma in later writing lessons.
Q3: How do you assess if students can use the greetings appropriately?
A3: I use observation and a simple smiley-face checklist. During pair work, I walk around and put a check (✓) for each student I hear: (1) uses a greeting word, (2) uses a name, (3) responds correctly. I also invite two pairs to perform. For whole-class assessment, I play a quick “greeting game”: I point to a student and say a name – they must greet me correctly. Thumbs-up from everyone = good understanding.
