专题08 读后续写
参考答案
1.
As my conscience was tearing me apart, I knew I couldn’t let this continue. I took a deep breath, grabbed a
bunch of fresh flowers from my own garden and headed to Mark’s door. My hands trembled as I knocked, and
when he opened it, his eyes were tired but calm. I hung my head and apologized sincerely, telling him how careless
I’d been and how guilty I felt. I offered to help repair the garden, to plant new flowers and tend to the tomatoes
until they were back to their former glory.
As I turned to leave, he called out, “Hey, wait.” I turned around, my heart pounding. He smiled softly, patting
my shoulder. “I know you’ve been busy with work,” he said. “Mistakes happen, and a garden can be fixed, but our
friendship can’t be broken.” He handed me a box of salted caramel candies, just like before. Together, we spent the
weekend tidying the garden, and with each seed we planted, the distance between us faded away, stronger than
ever.

Noticing Zhiyuan, his grandpa asked him to sit at the table. “It’s never too late to learn”, said Grandpa while
he placed the brush in his grandson’s trembling hand. “Hold it like this — firm but gentle,” he demonstrated. For
hours, they sat together, the old man’s steady hand guiding the young one’s. Character after character, Zhiyuan felt
something shift inside him. The strange strokes began to make sense. When he finally wrote “和” (harmony) on
his own, Grandpa’s eyes sparkled with pride. Night after night, they practiced together. He stopped seeing
calligraphy as old-fashioned and began feeling its quiet beauty, even kind of looking forward to the big day.
Finally came the culture festival day. Surrounded by curious schoolmates, Zhiyuan’s heart raced. But as he
touched the brush, calm washed over him. Stroke by stroke, he wrote — characters flowing like water. Gasps
turned into murmurs of admiration, then into applause. Looking up, he spotted Grandpa standing at the back,
nodding with pride in his eyes. With a smile, deep faith welled up in Zhiyuan’s heart. This wasn’t just writing. It
was a legacy passed down through generations. He was proud to carry it forward.
3.One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
Holding her breath, Mia slowly opened the metal box. Inside lay a yellowed photograph, a small, worn
leather wallet, and a neatly folded letter. The photograph showed a group of miners smiling tiredly in front of the
mine, covered in dust but full of hope. The wallet contained a few old coins and a piece of paper with a child’s
drawing. The letter, written in tidy handwriting, was from a miner to his family, talking about his hard work but
also his deep love for them. The girls examined these items carefully, realizing they were precious memories of a
miner’s life.
Paragraph 2:
For a moment, neither of them spoke, with deep respect for the miners. They understood that this mine was
not just an old ruin, but a place full of stories and warmth. Those miners had worked hard to support their families
and build the town. Mia gently closed the box, deciding to hand it over to the heritage office so that more people
could learn about the miners’ stories. Leaving the mine, the two girls felt they had gained more than just an
adventure — they had learned to cherish the hard work and love of those who had come before them.

Just then, a beam of light appeared in the dark night. We immediately shouted for help at the top of our
lungs. The light moved toward us quickly, and we soon heard Jack’s voice. He told us he had noticed the sudden
storm and waited for our return for hours. When we failed to show up, he guessed we were trapped, so he took a
flashlight and came searching for us along the familiar paths. Jack said our original way back was flooded, and we
had to go to his wooden house through a safe side path. We followed him closely, stepping carefully in the
darkness.
On reaching the safe place, we rushed to Jack’s warm wooden house. Jack’s father prepared hot drinks and
dry blankets for us immediately, and offered us hot food to drive off the cold. We expressed our sincere gratitude
for their selfless help. The next morning, after the flood receded, we returned to our car safely. This unexpected
experience made us deeply feel that the kindness of strangers can light up the hardest time, which we will keep in
mind forever.
5.      Before Li Wei could reach out to catch it, the teapot fell onto the floor with a sharp crash. Pieces of the
delicate porcelain scattered across the wooden floor, gleaming under the warm light of the tea house. Li Wei’s heart
sank instantly. His mind flashed to his grandmother’s gentle hands carefully polishing the teapot, and the stories she
had told him about its history. Tom’s face turned pale, his eyes wide with horror. “Oh no! I’m so, so sorry!” he
stammered in English, his voice trembling. He immediately knelt down, as if hoping to magically gather the
fragments. Li Wei stood frozen for a second, a wave of shock and sorrow washing over him. Yet, seeing Tom’s
genuine panic and regret, he took a deep breath and knelt beside him.
For a moment, neither of them spoke, only silence hanging in the air. Then, Li Wei gently picked up a
large piece of the teapot’s handle and said softly, “It’s okay, Tom. Accidents happen.” He looked up and managed a
small smile. “This teapot was important because it carried my family’s stories. But maybe now,” he continued, his
voice growing warmer, “it will carry our story too.” Tom’s eyes softened with relief and gratitude. “In my culture,”
Tom said slowly, “we believe that broken things can be repaired, and sometimes they become even more special.”
He carefully collected the pieces into his gift box. “Let me help you put it back together, not just the teapot, but as a
memory of our meeting.” As they stood up, the initial sadness was replaced by a quiet understanding. They knew
that some bonds, like the repaired cracks in porcelain, could hold stories far beyond their original design.

It was a great day when the new playground was finally ready. The whole town turned out to celebrate, with
kids laughing loudly as they ran to the brand-new slides, swings and climbing frames, their eyes sparkling with
excitement. Everyone gathered around Mrs. Thompson, cheering and clapping for her. She stood there with tears of
joy in her eyes, holding a bunch of flowers, quietly smiling at the lively scene — all her hard work and persistence
had finally paid off, turning a shabby lot into a warm paradise for the whole community.
Mrs. Thompson’s influence didn’t end with a new playground. Her kindness and perseverance ignited a
spark of unity in the town. Neighbors who used to be distant started helping each other more often, organizing
community clean-ups, small fundraisers for other public projects and regular family gatherings. The playground
became more than a play area; it was a symbol of community love, reminding everyone that care and unity could
turn small efforts into beautiful changes for the whole town.

Taking a deep breath, I opened the screen door and invited her in. The woman stumbled slightly as she
stepped in, her face covered with faint sweat. “My car broke down,” she whispered weakly, “and I’ve been walking
for miles.” I guided her to the sofa and brought a glass of water, which she drank greedily. As she recovered
slightly, she told me her name was Sarah and she was trying to reach her sick mother in the next town. Without
hesitation, I called a local mechanic. Within twenty minutes, help arrived. When Sarah handed me some notes, I
gently refused. “Just pay it forward someday,” I said. We exchanged phone numbers and I watched her leave, her
eyes filled with grateful tears.
As her car disappeared into the night, I closed the door with a peaceful heart. The fear that had gripped me
moments earlier had vanished, replaced by a warm glow. Standing in the quiet hallway, I realized that courage isn’t
the absence of fear — it’s choosing what’s right despite it. Later that night, I received a text: Sarah had reached her
mother safely. The simple message confirmed what I had always known deep down: kindness is never a mistake.
Yes, risks exist in this world, but the cost of hardness is far greater. I fell asleep knowing that tomorrow, if another
traveler appears at my door, I’ll choose kindness again — every single time.
8.Possible answer:
“Roy, I have something to tell you,” I said. His eyes met mine, and I saw his concern. “Do you remember
that Christmas we got presents because of Dad’s insurance settlement?” Roy frowned as if he had to think hard to
remember. “Oh, sure. I haven’t thought about that for ages.” I took a deep breath and let it all out. “I have a
confession. I was the one who opened the gifts. I let you take the blame. I’m so sorry. I was afraid of how mad
you’d be if I admitted the truth, and as time went on, it only got harder. Can you ever forgive me?” I held my
breath, waiting for his reaction.
Understandingly, Roy looked at me with a big smile on his face. “We have to admit that fear makes cowards
of us all,” he said with a smile, “so it is no big deal but a childhood experience.” He leaned over and hugged me. “I
forgive you. You shouldn’t have carried that all these years.” His words echoed in my mind, and the heaviness
lifted from my shoulders. I thought the Christmas of the insurance settlement had the potential for being the most
special Christmas ever, and truly it was, but in a different way.

I hesitated, mentioning that it would be a seven-mile round trip. I told him it was too far and that I couldn’t
possibly trouble a stranger like that. He laughed lightly, as if distance meant nothing to him. “It’s just a good ride,”
he said cheerfully. I called my wife right away. She was surprised by his kindness and said she’d wait with the
spare key. He adjusted his helmet, and sped off down the road. Watching his figure disappear into the busy street, I
felt both grateful and uneasy, hoping sincerely that he would come back safely.
15 minutes later, he came back with my spare key. Slightly out of breath but still smiling, he handed me the
key as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I tried to pay him for his trouble, but he shook his head firmly.
“Thank you for giving me the chance to set a new personal best record,” he joked and waved me goodbye. As he
rode away, I stood there quietly, realizing how one small act of kindness could brighten an entire day — and stay
with someone far longer than the problem itself.
10.One possible version:
During that moment of absolute helplessness, the man approached me. Without hesitation, he gently took
the chocolate bars from my trembling hand with a warm smile. His fingers were steady and easily pushed the heavy
door open with one hand, holding the treat for me with the other. I thanked him with a shaky voice, my chest tight
with a mix of gratitude and relief. Nodding softly, he murmured a few gentle words to tell me to take it easy and
keep going.
His kindness gave me courage to face the hard days ahead. I no longer let frustration and pain hold me back,
pushing myself harder in practicing walking and balancing. I repeated the movements countless times, falling down
and getting back up again and again, with that stranger’s gentle gesture always in my mind. Slowly, I learned to
walk steadily without a walking stick, and eventually even danced with my husband again. Every small progress
was a victory, and I knew my life on one leg, though tough, would be full of hope and meaning as the dream had
foretold.

I looked up and saw Mr. Brown, his eyes full of understanding. He knelt down gently beside me, patting my
shoulder softly and saying, “Don’t blame yourself, kid. Accidents happen, but the love in this wind chime never
breaks.” He pointed to the grass and smiled, “The missing block is just a small part, but our kindness and unity are
still here. Let’s turn this imperfection into something special.” His words warmed my heart, calming my shaking
hands. With his encouragement, I stopped crying and nodded firmly, determined to fix it with him.
Following his advice, we fixed the wind chime in a special way. We tied the broken strings with colorful
ribbons that some classmates brought, and used a small wooden star to replace the missing block — carving “Love
Never Breaks” on it together. When we put it on the auction stand, all my classmates gathered around, cheering for
us. To our surprise, many students and teachers came to bid for it. In the end, it was sold at a higher price than we
expected. Looking at the wind chime swaying in the wind, I realized Mr. Brown was right: the true value of a gift
lies in the love we put into it, not its perfection.
12.     I struggled to maintain my self-respect. Every time I heard their laughter, I gripped my books tighter. I
buried myself in studies, staying up late by candlelight, determined to prove them wrong. The white patches on my
skin became a reminder of my uniqueness rather than a flaw. I excelled in exams, winning scholarships and the
respect of my teachers. Their encouragement fueled my ambition to reach Karachi.
Years flowed like the Indus River. Graduation day arrived. Dressed in my cap and gown, I stood on the stage of
the University of Karachi, holding my degree. The audience applauded, and I spotted my parents in the crowd, tears
streaming down their faces. I thought of the boy who once herded buffalo and dreamed of this moment. Laughter
no longer haunted me; instead, I had become a source of pride for my village.
13.        The officers finally suggested breaking the front driver’s window to get them out. Hearing the danger,
Max immediately stepped forward and carefully broke the window with a tool. As the glass cracked, something
amazing happened. Instead of hiding, D’Argo pushed Ila aside with his body, trying his best to protect her from the
broken glass. Then he stuck his head out, whining softly, clearly worried about Ila who was sitting beside him. The
officers quickly reached in and pulled the frightened but unhurt little girl out, and then got D’Argo out safely.
I gratefully held D’Argo in my arms, and brushed the glass pieces off his body gently. Tears blurred my eyes
as I hugged this warm and brave little dog tightly. Max and I were both deeply moved by his selfless act. At that
moment, I truly realized that D’Argo was not just a pet, but a beloved member of our family. He had used his own
way to protect our daughter when we were desperate, showing his unique and silent love for us. This experience
left us with a deep and unforgettable memory.

Watching closely, I noticed Mr. Chen’s trousers were marked with dirt. He explained that he’d spotted
Bubble near the park, chasing a butterfly, and had spent an hour crawling through bushes to catch it. His kind eyes
crinkled as he described how the cat had resisted at first, then softened into his arms. My husband and I thanked
him profusely, while May clung to Bubble, her face buried in its fur.
Later that evening, May finally took out the folded paper from her pocket. It was a detailed drawing of
Bubble, with notes like “loves sunbeams” and “scared of vacuum cleaners” written around it. She’d created a
“missing cat poster” to help find him, even though she’d been too shy to show it earlier. As we hung the poster on
the fridge, I realized that May’s quiet love had been the strongest force of all — proof that sometimes, the most
powerful things come from the smallest, most determined hearts.
15.Just as the eagle spread its wings, Mia’s natural reaction took over. Without a second thought, Mia hit the
window hard with her hand and yelled, “Leave them alone!” The sudden noise and vibration startled the large bird
away. It stopped its attack and cast a sharp glance toward Mia behind the glass. Though the tiny squirrels also froze
in fear, Mia had to keep making loud sounds and flash her camera light. Thankfully, the continuous noise and the
unexpected bright light finally forced the eagle to push off from the branch and fly away.
Mia smiled with relief as the two little squirrels slowly relaxed their tense bodies. Soon, the mother squirrel
returned with some food in her mouth. The tiny squirrels moved excitedly and rubbed against their mother for food.
A profound sense of warmth and fulfillment washed over Mia as she witnessed this intimate reunion. The mother
squirrel stopped for a moment on the windowsill, looking at Mia as if to quietly say thanks, before caring for her
babies. Mia’s heart swelled with joy, knowing she not only had captured wonderful photos but had also become a
silent guardian of a squirrel family.
