(2023春·安徽·高三校联考开学考试)If you love talking about vacations as much as you
love going on vacation, then this card game Destination Anywhere from Table Topics is for you.
There aren’t any rules — it’s just you, your friend, and 135 cards printed with conversation
starters that all relate to travel. The questions are open enough. They might inspire you to share the
funniest stories from your previous travels. “What do you always forget when you’re packing for a
trip?” may, for example, remind you of the time when you forgot to bring your tent on a week-
long hike. And “Do you prefer making tours or seeing sites on your own?” is practically begging
your sister to talk about the time she got lost on a self-guided tour through the Tuscan countryside
and was rescued by a kindly old sheepherder. The game is recommended to ages 12 and up, and
you can get it on Amazon for $25.
If the Destination Anywhere version doesn’t sit well with you, there are plenty of other Table
Topics versions to choose from. The “Geek Pop!” edition ($22) could encourage a lively debate.
“Not Your Mom’s Dinner Party” edition ($25) will keep your guests entertained with questions
like “Have you ever been accompanied by security?” The “Family” edition ($25) is a great way to
get silent kids to come out of their shells a little. “Would you rather know how to fly a plane, drive
a race car, or rock climb?” pretty much guarantees an answer that isn’t “Yes”, “No”, or “Good”.
You can browse all the Table Topics card set on Amazon.
21.What do we know about the game Destination Anywhere?
A.It is only suitable for adults to play.
B.It requires players to follow certain rules.
C.It prompts people to start talking about travel.
D.It is the cheapest of all the Table Topics card games.
22.Which of the following edition can help introverted children to talk more?
A.Family B.Geek Pop!

23.What’s the purpose of the text?

(2023春·安徽·高三校联考开学考试)I enjoy throwing stuff away. I’d love to go full
minimalism (极简主义), but my wife and two teenage kids do not share my dream of a house with
almost nothing in it. I have tried. When the kids were little, I taught them my two favorite games –
“Do We Need It?” and “Put It in Its Place”— and made them play every few months. Their
enthusiasm never matched mine.If I’m going to be honest, my own tidying skills are not as great as I’d like. My “discarded”
pile is never quite the trash mountain I want because I make up excuses for why things are useful.
I consider this unhealthy. I want to be better at moving on.
So, this time I found help—the classics for people like me: The Life-Changing Magic of
Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo. Kondo’s commitment to her craft is astonishing. Her philosophy is
only to keep things you love. Can I go full Kondo? I will try. One central idea is to clean by
category. You start by collecting all clothes and gathering them together for consideration. It
makes you rethink how you organize. Next, hold each item and ask if it brings you joy. This way
you’re choosing what to keep. And that’s how I find myself with all my clothes on my bedroom
floor. My wife walks by and gives me a look that says I’m nuts. She’s probably not wrong.
Somewhere near the bottom of this chaos is my special jacket. I move through the pile: pants,
shirts, suits and shoes. Then my last category: jackets. I haven’t worn it in about 30 years.
Somehow, it has survived. Now, has its time come?
I hold it in my hand. There is a tear just below the collar that widens as I hold it. It’s literally
falling apart. Will I ever wear it again? Not a chance. Does it feel good to wear? Does it bring me
joy? Actually, yes. At this moment, my daughter walks in. She asks about the jacket. I tell her the
story. She thinks I should keep it. It’s cool and unique and full of memories. She is arguing that
nostalgia (怀念) is the very reason.
I’m not entirely convinced by my daughter’s arguments. I believe in looking ahead, not
backward. Nevertheless, sometimes it’s hard to let go. So I gently place the jacket on the “keep”
pile.
24.What can we learn about the author’s family members from Paragraph1?

25.What does the underlined word “discarded” probably mean in Paragraph 2?
A.abandoned B.disposable C.organized D.classified
26.What drives the author to read The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up?
A.To learn how to categorize. B.To develop a passion for minimalism.
C.To persuade his family members. D.To improve his tidying skills.
27.What’s the text mainly about?
A.The importance of categorizing skills B.The changes brought by minimalism
C.The author’s efforts to go minimalism D.An inspiration got from the book

(2023秋·安徽·高三池州市第一中学校联考开学考试)After waking up, you may feel
frustrated that you cannot recall the dreams you had last night. Artificial Intelligence (AI) may beable to help.
Previously, there have been AI models that can turn texts into images. They do this by
learning from a large amount of data from both texts and images. This time, researchers from
Osaka University in Japan have trained an AI system called Stable Diffusion to recreate images
directly based on people's brain scans, Science magazine reported.
The researchers used an online data set provided by the University of Minnesota, which
consisted of brain scans from four participants as they each viewed a set of 10, 000 photos. The
scans were recorded by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The AI then learned about
the participants' brain activities by analyzing changes in blood flow shown by the fMRI data—
when a part of the brain is activated, more blood will flow to it. It then matched the brain activity
with the photos. Through this method, the AI learned how human brains would react when seeing
different photos. Finally, the researchers tested the AI on additional brain scans from the same
participants when they viewed photos of objects.
If the person looked at an airplane, for example, the AI would use the brain scan data to
create an image of a very blurry (模糊的) airplane. Then, it would turn on the previous “text-to-
image” model and improve the quality of the image by feeding itself the keyword “airplane”. The
final images were “convincing” to about 80 percent accuracy, according to the researchers.
The new study created a novel approach that combines texts and images to “decode the
brain”. According to Ariel Goldstein from Princeton University, in the future, the technology can
be used to record imagined thoughts and dreams or allow people to understand how differently
other animals perceive (感知) reality.
28.What is Stable Diffusion meant to do?
A.Scan people's brains. B.Turn texts into images.
C.Use brain scans to rebuild images. D.Record relevant experimental data.
29.How did the AI learn about the participants' brain activities?
A.By analyzing changes in blood flow. B.By asking the participants questions.
C.By comparing different brain scans. D.By referring to previous AI models.
30.What can we learn from the text?
A.Dreams can hardly be forgotten by us. B.Texts and images help decode the brain.
C.People's brains are affected by fMRI. D.The AI creates clear images of objects at
first.
31.What does Ariel Goldstein say about the technology?
A.It has been adopted in many countries. B.Its development is far from satisfactory.
C.It is lacking in convincing evidence. D.Its application has a great prospect.

(2023 秋·安徽·高三校联考开学考试)Think of a monarch butterfly (帝王蝶), and aunique image pops up: black-and-orange wings, with some white spots around the black edges.
Those white spots may actually help monarchs complete their long-distance migration by
changing the airflow around their wings. This is the new idea of a team of researchers that has
analyzed hundreds of monarch wings collected along their migration routes.
“If you have larger white spots, you’re simply more successful at reaching Mexico,” says
Andy Davis, a researcher. He and his colleagues believe that the pattern of color could interact
with sunlight to create some temperature differences on the wing that can change airflow, easing
the butterflies’ flight.
Monarch butterflies definitely need to fly well to complete their annual fall migration of up to
3,000 miles. Monarchs from as far north as Canada fly south every fall all the way to some
mountain top sites in central Mexico. Most research on butterfly coloring focuses on its use as a
warning to predators (捕食者). Since monarchs eat milkweed that contains poisons, their bright
orange color serves as a signal that they’re unpleasant prey (猎物).
Andy Davis had studied the black-and-white patterns on migrating birds, and concluded that
black coloring could affect temperature and airflow in ways that might improve their flight
performance. So the researchers decided to look at the black-and-white pattern in the edge of
monarch wings. What they found is that the wings of the summer monarchs that aren’t migrating
have less white, while those that are migrating but haven’t made it all the way to Mexico have
more. And monarchs that successfully reached Mexico have even more white.
“It is a totally new idea,” says Marcus Kronforst, a biologist. “I’ve worked on butterfly color
patterns my whole life, but it’s never crossed my mind that it might influence how the butterflies
fly. I do think that this aerodynamic (空气动力学) explanation is exciting. It’s definitely different.
But I just think there are potentially some other explanations that could be explored.”
32.What is the new idea of monarch butterflies’ white spots?
A.They serve as a warning to predators.
B.They improve butterflies’ flying performance.
C.They attract the attention of butterfies’ mates.
D.They help butterflies hide in their surroundings.
33.How does Davis think white spots help monarch butterflies?
A.By changing the flow of air.
B.By making butterflieslighter.
C.By guiding migratingbutterflies.
D.By turning sunshine into energy.
34.What’s Kronforst’s atitude towards Davis newy finding?
A.Unconcerned. B.Supportive.
C.Skeptical. D.Disappointed.
35.What is the best title for the text?A.Monarch butterflies migrate the longest distance
B.Monarch butterflies use airflow to help their flights
C.Monarch butterflies have more white spots than others
D.Monarch butterflies’ white spots may help them fly farther

多余选项。
(2023·广西玉林·统考三模)Cat behaviors can vary enormously from one cat to another.
They are certainly interesting creatures with many cute and sometimes strange habits that often
have us wondering. 36 Why do cats like high places? Wild cats were predators (捕食者),
and frequenting high places meant they had somewhere safe to view their territory, watch for
danger, and attack prey. 37 Our domesticated cats also enjoy watching the world from
above, which provides them with a safe, calm place away from the activity in a house.
38 Both wild and domestic cats are drawn to hiding and sleeping in contained areas.
At home, it is often the humble cardboard box. Cats are predators, and a box offers a perfect place
to hide while waiting for prey and also to spring out of, as only one entrance exists.
Why does my cat give “gifts”? Cats are well known for leaving us gifts that we may not
want, such as lizards or mice. 39 Showing off their catch to you means you are a part of
their family and they want to show you their hunting skills. 40 Instead, be sure to offer
your cat a variety of toys to help them satisfy these natural bunting instincts.
A.Why do cats sit in boxes?
B.Why do cats like playing with boxes?
C.This appears to be coded into their DNA.
D.Don’t express anger, as they will not understand.
E.Cats are predators and will hunt if allowed outdoors.
F.A cat’s natural behavior is to withdraw and hide in stress situation.
G.Veterinarian Dr. Katrina Warren provides answers to your questions about cat behaviors.

(2023秋·广西玉林·高三校联考开学考试)Today was Community Service Day at school.
Maya’s class was going to make cards for the seniors living in a nursing home. It was also the first
day Maya would be wearing her leg brace (腿支架) to school, which was designed to help her
walk more steadily and smoothly.
It was a cold autumn morning, Maya looked down, feeling embarrassed. To make it lovelier,
she had delicately decorated the brace with pretty butterfly patterns. Still, she was unsure about
others’ reaction. All morning at school, kids kept glancing at her brace. To her relief, they didn’tsay anything.
In the classroom, Maya was drawing little green buds (芽) and pretty flowers when her friend
Samir came over and sat by her. She felt his eyes fixed on her brace and heard him asking,
“What’s that for?” Not knowing what to say, Maya pretended she didn’t hear him. After a few
seconds of awkwardness, she glanced back at him, and found that he looked a little sad.
After lunch, the class set off. The nursing home was on a small hill and all of them walked
there happily along the path. Maya found that the brace did make it easier for her to walk up.
Maya and Samir were paired up with a lady who was 83 years old. There at the end of the
hall in a wheelchair, with a big smile on her face, sat the lady, wearing a pink coat, with red
lipstick and beautiful earrings. She looked bright and full of life. Moving flexibly and fast towards
Maya and Samir, she greeted first. “I’m Joan, ” she said cheerfully, “Glad to meet you. ”
Maya and Samir handed her the cards they made. Joan looked at Samir’s card carefully and
spoke with admiration, “You’ve written a poem! That’s so artistic!” Samir’s face reddened with
shyness. Then Joan turned to Maya’s picture. “The first flowers of spring!” she cried in delight.
“You really have a gift for using colour!” she said. Clearly, Joan’s praise added great power into
Maya.
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
