dragging at my arm.
(广场喷泉迸发欢快水声,与我臂上沉重行李箱形成鲜明对比)
解析:用欢快环境反衬疲惫心境
3. The abandoned lighthouse stood sentinel on the cliff, its cracked lens staring vacantly seaward,
mirroring my sense of directionless.
(废弃灯塔如哨兵矗立悬崖,裂痕镜头茫然望海,映照我的迷失)
解析:拟物手法实现情景交融
4. Cherry petals snowed around us, their fleeting beauty tightening my throat - tomorrow we would part
at this very station.

高考真题演练
2017年11月浙江卷(和妈妈去旅行)
A vacation with my mother
I had an interesting childhood: It was filled with surprises and amusements, all because of my mother —
loving, sweet, yet absent-minded and forgetful. One strange family trip we took when I was eleven tells a lot about
her.
My two sets of grandparents lived in Colorado and North Dakota, and my parents decided to spend a few
weeks driving to those states and seeing all the sights along the way. As the first day of our trip approached, David,
my eight-year-old brother, and I unwillingly said good-bye to all of our friends. Who knew if we’d ever see them
again? Finally, the moment of our departure arrived, and we loaded suitcases, books, games, camping equipment,
and a tent into the car and bravely drove off. We bravely drove off again two hours later after we’d returned home
to get the purse and traveler’s checks Mom had forgotten.
David and I were always a little nervous when using gas station bathrooms if Mom was driving
while Dad slept: “You stand outside the door and play lookout (放哨) while I go, and I’ll stand outside the door and
play lookout while you go.” I had terrible pictures in my mind: “Honey, where are the kids?” “What?! Oh, Gosh…
I thought they were being awfully quiet.” We were never actually left behind in a strange city, but we weren’t about
to take any chances.
On the fourth or fifth night, we had trouble finding a hotel with a vacancy. After driving in vain for some
time, Mom suddenly got a great idea: Why didn’t we find a house with a likely-looking backyard and ask if wecould set up tent there? David and I became nervous. To our great relief, Dad turned down the idea. Mom never
could understand our objections. If a strange family showed up on her front doorstep, Mom would have been
delighted. She thinks everyone in the world is as nice as she is. We finally found a vacancy in the next town.

模拟演练

Kathy’s family vacation to the beach was usually the highlight of her summer. This year, however, her
parents announced a new rule: no phones for the entire week.
“But my friends will be expecting updates about the trip,” Kathy complained. Kathy’s mom gave her a
serious look. Unwillingly, Kathy handed her phone over and her mom locked it away.
The drive to the beach house took most of the day. As they turned off the highway onto countryback
roads, the clouds darkened. Rain started to pour. “Even more beautiful in the rain,” her mother said. “What do
you think, Kathy?” Kathy glared at her mom. “Beautiful,” she muttered.
That night after dinner, Kathy wandered into the kitchen, where her father was washing dishes. She gave
her father a loving look and said in her sweetest voice, “Couldn’t I have my phone back, just for one second?Just so I can tell everyone what an amazing time I’m having?”
“Can’t,” he said. “It’s not here. Remember?” Kathy was very annoyed. Having nothing better to do, she
examined the dusty bookcase in the living room. The books looked as dull as the weather. On the top shelf,
however, she spotted a puzzle. She took it, emptied the pieces on the table, and began to sort them.
After what seemed like a few minutes, she looked up. It was past ten o’clock. She had been working for
almost two hours! She yawned. The puzzle was less than half done, but she was exhausted. So, she went to
bed.

Winter break was approaching, and all Scott wanted to do was go snowboarding. Unfortunately, Scott's
parents had different plans. They had booked a weeklong tropical cruise (热带船游). Scott hated warm
weather and asked if he could just stay at his best friend's house so he could snowboard every day at the local
mountain. His parents didn't want to hear anything of it. He kept debating them about the topic, but they
would not change their minds. Family time was important to them, and it was tradition that they spend winterbreak together.
The week of the cruise arrived, and Scott continued to mumble (咕哝) his complaints as he and his
family left their house to head south. Scott's dad told him that he would only make the vacation worse for
himself if he didn't change his attitude and open his mind to a new experience. Scott still couldn't stop thinking
about all of the snow he was leaving behind.
When they arrived at the port to board the ship, Scott had a hard time admitting that he was actually
impressed with the size of the ship. He had seen the brochures but seeing the ship in person was a whole
different animal. Then he remembered that the brochure said something about a surfing pool. Maybe surfing
would be somewhat like snowboarding. After all, it involved riding a board.
Scott climbed aboard the ship with his parents, and then they walked around to check everything out. He
couldn't believe how fancy the accommodations were. The dining room looked like a royal hall; the game
room had all of his favorite games; the ship's deck (甲板) had several different swimming pools for different
purposes. Then Scott saw the surfing pool. It was incredible. It wasn't a big pool, but it had big waves, and the
young man who was demonstrating how to ride the waves made it look like a ton of fun.

It was August. We were on vacation, just my six-year-old son Kevin and I, for my husband was always
busy. Having driven from our home in the city to a remote and peaceful place, we wouldn’t see friends or
family—it would be a nice, safe, socially distanced week away. We had hiked about half mile to an attractive
spot called Diana’s Baths, which afforded visitors an expanse of transparent water. The water flows and thenfalls off a series of big flat stones, making itself a small waterfall, about 7 inches high.
Several couples and their kids in swimsuits were playing to their heart’s content in the water. We joined
them. I watched as some younger parents nervously drove their babies away from the stones edges. Fast-
moving water made standing there quite dangerous, for I saw a certain kid with curly hair missed a step and
almost fell down. The air was full of shouts and laughter. I felt so lucky that I didn’t always need to fix my
eyes on my son. Kevin could navigate his physical space with more confidence and care. But I was still
terrified when I saw Kevin jump between the slippery rocks.
But with the passing of time, I soon relaxed, and we were both having fun, my kid splashing and kicking
in the cool water, laughing heartily as I put my head under the cold running water.
Then seconds later, every fear I’d ever had rose to the surface. I lifted my head, turned and saw Kevin
sitting between two stones, with the rushing water flowing around him. I could see he was shaking sometimes
because of the water rapids. I yelled at him to get out. He yelled back something that I couldn’t hear.

Adventures Through the Gorge
We put the raft in the calm, cold water.I looked down. The water was like a mirror. It was a foggy
morning,so I could barely make out what was down the river. When we took our places in the raft,I was in the
back with my dad right across from me.Our tour guide was telling us the basics of rafting, and it seemed she
was patronizing us!I was terrified.Since I was in the back,I was sure I would be the one to fall out.But I have
always been an optimist,so I thought it would turn out okay.
Then I looked up and saw a big, gray cloud.I looked down at the river, and it started to get louder and
closer to us;soon raindrops pelted us.Once we moved out of the rain, the clouds faded away, and the sun was
shining down on us for the rest of the day.As I looked around,I saw the monstrous, green trees standing over
me.It was beautiful.
As we moved farther down the river,I heard the water flowing gracefully. When we moved deeper into the
gorge,it got louder and louder. This was our first rapids. It seemed that we were approaching the rapids
slowly, but we were at the top of the rapids in the blink of an eye.It felt like time frozen.I was so excited and
nervous;I thought I was going to die.It was a bumpy ride down.Getting splashed with water,we raced up and
down the rocks. There was not a patch of dry skin on us by the time we hit the bottom.
After we got through the rapids,I was so excited!Going down made me feel I could do anything. Our tour
guide told us we were going to approach Category V rapids. It was more intense than the Category I rapids, and
I got a little more nervous. It took us a little while to get to the rapids because we had to go down a long
river. We were allowed to jump off the raft and swim down the river until we had to get back in.
Paragraph 1:
About three minutes later, the Category V was coming.

5.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
This past summer, I joined my sister's family for their annual Adirondack vacation in a rented cottage ona lake, the same place my family has stayed since I was a little kid. There are plenty of activities to keep
everyone busy: swimming, fishing and sand castle building on the beach.
By the third day, I had noticed that my ten-year-old niece, Jannie, had spent most of her time watching
cable TV and browsing through the gift shops in town. Not exactly the wilderness experience I remembered
from my youth. So, at dinner, I told Jannie we should hike to the top of the mountain across the lake the
following morning, which was called Rocky Point because the peak is bare and rock-covered.
"Well." replied Jannie, "Tomorrow there are some shows on the Disney Channel, so I'm going to be pretty
busy."
"When your mother and I used to come here when we were your age, we were too busy swimming and
hiking up mountains."
"Sounds more like punishment than a vacation." She shrugged her shoulders. "Besides, I don't think I can
walk that far."
When I said it only took a half-hour of steady walking to get to the top. She grumbled, "Fine, I'll go." I
knew she was agreeing just to shut me up, but I would take anything I could get.
The next morning was a perfect day for a hike, with sunshine and clear skies. I got up early and took
some sandwiches and water bottles, which I tucked into my backpack along with the bug spray and the
camera.
Jannie came shuffling downstairs, sighed dramatically, rolled her eyes and announced in a very
unenthusiastic, robot-like voice. "I'm ready to go hiking, Uncle David." Anyway, we climbed into my car and
drove to the trailhead about ten minutes away. As we stood at the edge of the parking lot and looked down the
shaded trail that led into the woods. "I am still not sure this is a good idea, but if you and Mom could do it, I
can too, I guess."
